you can make your own SE and use the google database though can't you? I've seen lots of google clones out there.

Google would either need to be able to serve their ads, or you would have to license access to the database...



I'm talking about starting your own 500-linux-box-army search engine that would actually compete with Google.

Of course you can. People on the net like the newest most cutting edge app. It would take 3-5 years though.

Im not sure if you can or not, but if you could do it just imagine the return. Goggle is worth what, like 25 billion right now?
Not bad for 3-5 years of work if you could get it to succeed.
