Just snagged a new laptop.
Emachines MD 64 3200+, 512ram (replacing next week to 1256), 80gig hd (replacing next week to a 7200rpm), RADEON 9600.
$1399 after rebates. =) Yes, I know its an Emachines... but they arent the same emachines of past, their manufacturer sells to plenty of the higher "name" brands... and it has a new owner, gateway just bought them out for their consumer side, since gateway is more gov/k12. Got the extra warranty, but thus far pretty happy... It'll do a 12k on 2001se from futuremark. Probably the best gaming laptop sub $3k right now, can't beat the price anyways. =) |
here, have a c o o k i e
edti, you're trying hard to convince yourself it'll last past 3 months...haha |

Have fun with it! :thumbsup

That's the fastest laptop on the market right now.
E-Machines builds solid machines now. They were acquired a while back and the new owner completely changed from making low end to making higher quality at great prices. I bought one for my son. It's great. |

Its nice so far, not doing much with it, until I get the new HD and ram in the mail, so I can make it my primary. |
i grabbed the 5310 a few months back..it is a solid machine...not one fuck up yet, and I push that thing to the max
i love my emachines |
and oh yeah, unlike dell and gateway...if you open the laptop up, you will find ALL brandname pieces inside....dell and gateway use generics with their name on them
|
sounds like a smoking deal.

well enjoy it - I love my laptop and its been going strong for almost 2 years now. It's a Dell and when it dies I will be lost.

I just didnt wanna throw down $3k+ for a p4 with comp specs... even though it'd be better for video editing for me. I based my decision mainly on the video card. The 9600 rocks. =) |

2.5-3hrs on normal tasks.
Watching dvd around 2hrs. It looks like this chip power consumption is between a p4 and a centrino, smack in the middle. Forgot to mention that $1399 after rebates, included an internal dvd burner. =) Im extremely happy thus far... I almost bought a 17" zd7000 fully stocked, but honestly, thats not really portable. |
