Mainstream Companies Love Adult Webmasters!

I've been going on interviews all week long. When I was re-writing my resume, something I haven't done in more than FIVE years, I noticed I sure did have a shitload of Adult Industry companies to list. First I was thinking "Wow, that's a lot of references!".. But then reality started sinking in and I started getting a little nervous, because of the four pages, 3 1/2 of them are Adult, Gambling, and Pharm companies!

To make a long story short, I've already gotten A LOT of offers from the different companies I visited, as well as 8 more to go to this coming week and so far 4 for the week after. Apparently when you come right out and tell them where you've worked and for which industries, they are impressed, because those three industries make more money and are far more cut throat than any other industry out there!!

So if you are unhappy with adult at any time, or want to make the switch and test out the mainstream world of work, you will most probably have no problems getting hired as long as you are going for a position in Internet Advertising & Marketing.

PS - Just don't list the actual NAMES of the sites

:thumbsup

probably has alot to do with the personality type that is able to succeed on its own.

everyone here who earns a good living doing this should really be proud of themselves.

Its a rare quality to possess.

Yo

You gonna be at the Playboy party Monday night?

I forgot to mention that we as the adult industry are looked upon as the pioneers of the web, from a mainstream point of view. The way mainstream sees it, is if you can survive in Adult, you can do ANYTHING.

I've worked in adult since 99 and the company I work for now snatched me up with the first offer I put on the table and I thought I started high. Bottom line is if they can get over their hang-ups, and most can, they respect the fact that adult has pretty much lead the Internet in not only technology but marketing as well.

I think now is a good time to make the cross-over if your going to do it. I have a feeling that there will be a mass exodus of adult WM to mainstream come this fall.

Yep, I'm with you on that. As long as you have the experience, you're good to go. I couldn't even give references to most of the mainstream work I did because all of those companies died out with the dot-bomb bubble.

By the way, the mainstream Advertising agencies out there are on HIGH FUCKING DEMAND for people with over 5+ years experience in Internet Marketing/Advertising. Especially if you're savvy with Email Marketing, Search Engines and Affiliate networks, they'll pay you six figures, give you full benefits, 401k plan, stock options and a whole team of your own to boss around all day. The only question now is which agency to go for! :thumbsup

Now your making me wish I would have hung in there past my first year in '98 :(

Sounds like a great opportunity for you guys, good luck :thumbsup

I really doubt this is the same for most companies out there.

Most people look down on this industry.

No no.. before and during the dot-bomb era was a great time to stick to adult, now that the smoke has cleared and agencies and companies across the globe are more aware of the potential and cost effective marketing role the internet can now play, the demand is just huge.

gwilkins 04-23-2004 07:25 PM

That was adult but I worked for someone. ;)

I decided to change cities then went back to school for a while... Then got a union job in a large warehouse that paid well. :thumbsup

I'm curious, did you put the urls of the adult affiliate programs on your resume, or just company names? Did they ask to see any of the adult sites?

Brotha I hear that. The pay is good and honestly, I can finally tell the kids where daddy works!

As far as the sites to list it was really hard for me

Blowjobs.com
tits.com
pussy.com
teensex.com
hustler.com
hustlercontent.com
flyntdigital.com
erotic.com
monsterloads.com

and the list goes on and on!

Every second business mag is telling managers how switched on
adult is.

However they have also told them that Ja-va is a programming
language worth using.
