How many of you use tanning beds?

I do throughout the winter and to help kick start my summer tan.

How about you?

Juicy D. Links 04-23-2004 12:54 PM

I try to go one time per week but have been getting lazy with my regimen :(

GirlNinja 04-23-2004 12:55 PM

I got 3-4 times a week, unless I'm out in the sun and get a normal tan.

Wrestlingdiva 04-23-2004 12:56 PM

When I lived in AZ I was waitressing at this strip club and this dancer who worked at another club came in and asked us all to go into the locker room with her.

She had 3rd degree burns all over her entire body. She had been in a tanning bed for less than 15 minutes. Apparently the salon where she went had decided to give people a better tan faster they would put the bulbs that belong in a stand up booth into a bed.

I haven't tanned in a salon since then. I think I would rather take my chances with a bottle of spf 15 and the sun.

true that tanning beds are just as damaging as the sun

scary thing is that sun tan = skin damage, so watch out, luckily it seems that a natural tan lasts much longer and is probably just as healthy, make sure to use spf and build it up slowly this way you wont kick yourself when your 40 and dying from cancer

GenPadova 04-23-2004 01:00 PM

I used a tanning bed once when I was 18 and thought it was awesome but now I'm just paranoid when I see older ladies that were obviously in the sun a lot. Yikes! I've been using the self tanner :)

benc 04-23-2004 01:02 PM

I go once a week. Real powerful standup booth, only takes 8 minutes. Then have a nice all over tan.

TaylorM 04-23-2004 01:04 PM

For the females who don't like to tan, try using Benefit's Flamingo Fancy. It isn't a self tanner but it is a lotion that gives you a shimmery tan for the day or evening.

mindoza 04-23-2004 01:04 PM

When I was a kid I use to work at a health/tennis club we had tanning booths. I had to clean those beds after people came in.
First: I did not do the best job cleaning & second there were some really gross people who came and and left gross stuff behind! ILL PASS!

Poppy 04-23-2004 01:05 PM

Yeah, I do.............................NOT.

I am fortunate, that I have au natural tan.

iFliPcEss 04-23-2004 01:08 PM

I don't need to do that, because tan is my natural color :winkwink:

C_U_Next_Tuesday 04-23-2004 01:09 PM

I havent used the tanning beds in years..skin cancer seems to run in my family. Although I am thinking of going for a bit of color this summer. I wear spf 45 outside when i climb out of my coffin:glugglug

gwilkins 04-23-2004 01:10 PM

They're actually not that expensive. It's been a while since I was looking into starting a tan studio but single sided home beds started at 1200$ and 24 bulb 'regular' beds were about 2000$ (then the sky is the limit from there :P).
If you look at the amount of money and time you put into maintaining a tan every month home beds are much cheaper.

kimzar 04-23-2004 01:47 PM

my friend works at a tanning salon, I think its better than the sun:2 cents:

It's about the same as far as it's negative effects on the skin and how it jumpstarts skin cancer.

Vanilla DeVille 04-23-2004 03:35 PM

I end up going to the microwave about twice a week. :)

I go at least once a week, once you get it going it is easy to maintain in the summer. Make sure you use sun block .

SureFire 04-23-2004 04:05 PM

No. To afraid of skin cancer.

AMADude 04-23-2004 09:56 PM

BiggleJones 04-23-2004 09:57 PM

I used to when I lived back on the east coast...but since moved to Cali, Ive been going to Venice Beach instead.

kelly 04-23-2004 10:03 PM

Haven't used one of those since my teens (we had one at home), I'm really fair and need to use a high SPF in the summer when I'm out at the beach.
