Have you tryed to boot into command prompt and remove from there ? Or boot from a clean cdrom and remove the infection ?

ps' 04-22-2004 02:47 PM

to stop that try this , Find the options Tools > System STart > Uncheck any adware/spyware there...

that s what i do ... and it works

gwilkins 04-22-2004 02:49 PM

I'm guessing that's one of the new pieces of adware that acts like a virus / trojan. It probably has already messed with your adware removal tools and won't let you browse to some pages that would have helped.

If you can get to it, trendmicro may have a manual un-install. I'm not sure if they've decided to include adware to their database though.

im sure alot of other people have found out that issue, i would search groups.google.com for the domain name and spyware see if anyone has any suggestions..

also im sure u have but make sure you update your spyware apps with the latest updates ..

update:

Reboot computer in safe mode & offline. Run CWShredder
Reboot in normal mode & offline. Run Hijackthis, delete the dozen or so entries that have searchpage.html

Reboot, install the latest browser patches and test it out. If you missed parts it may have reinstalled itself.

God, how do you people find this shit? Does it auto install or what?

I want to offically say fuck ad-aware! I'm using spysweeper now, and it's much better.

I scanned clean w/ad-adware 6.0

with Spysweeper It's found 56 spywares, and 983 traces.

mtwirl.dll <--- the infection... if you have this problem like me search your machine for mtwirl.dll you have to Ctrl+alt+del and kill rundll32.exe then delete mtwirl.dll from your system.

then goto your regedit and search for

Searchpage.html

remove all strings of it and happy days :)

thanks much to my buddy Chris, he helped me all the way, over AIM and this kid told me exactly what to do without ever hearing about this problem, all i did was send him a bunch of screenshots and a matter of an hour he had it down... you the man Chris! thanks again
