Digital Signatures legality?
 

OK, i'm trying to figure out the best way to have contracts signed by webmasters that are located outside of the U.S. or do not have access to a fax machine at their office. I can always find a decent free e fax service if they will let foreign webmasters sign up but would prefer to go with a digital signature if feasible.

Are digital signatures enforceable in a court of law if necessary and if they are not what methods do some of you employ in lieu of a faxed or mailed hahahahahahahaha?

They may be enforcable in a court of law but international I very much doubt it and would not recommend it.

yes, i've thought of using a courier of some sort but trying to come up with the quickest way to do the contracts since most of the time people are needing my services rather quickly. I have been burned too many times to do work now without a contract but don't want to lose the work due to having to wait on some form of courier. Plus, it will be a bitch for foreign webmasters to fax me the signed hahahahahahahahas.

Enforceable in the US, outside the US unknown.
Chances of legally persueing someone outside the US are remote at best anyways.

If your insistant about it, have the fill out the contract, sign it and scan it with a copy of their ID and email it to you.

perhaps you're right about the scanning. That will probably be the best option that i'm going to have internationally.
