Know what you're speaking about, that way you should feel confident about it, and then just talk to the audience. :)

Make sure you are prepared. If you feel you know what to say, it should go well

Imagine you're talking to your best friend, don't think its a bunch of strangers.

get every piece of detailed info on what you will be speaking about till you feel confident about people asking you questions & you wont stumble in your speech either.
i love speaking to large groups of people, but only if its on a subject that i am 100% passionate & informed on. "you have to know and believe in the product, before you sell it" use that as a guideline. :glugglug PS If all else fails, get anti-anxiety meds :winkwink: |
Don't use notes, have everything in your head - not holding paper will make you feel more comfortable and will give your audience a more personal feel.

Be prepared, it's the best anti-anxiety...

I speak to groups everyday, the only time I get nervous is when I am unsure about the details of what I'm presenting. Always be the best dressed person in the room. Pick out a smiling face or two in the crowd and speak directly to them. One other piece of advice is to only study an outline of the topics you want to cover as opposed to the actual written sentences of the speech. That way you speak in a natural language as opposed to remembering and regurgetating words. It flows better. Remember, if you skip something or dont say it just like it was prepared in your speech, you are the only one that knows it. If you are called on it later, you can always say, maybe I didn't say that right, let me rephase that! but, all the tips and tricks in the world cant mask the fact that you dont know the details. |
Either you are cut out for it or you aren't. Not much you can do other than drug yourself and act like a zombie.
Is there no way to back out if you are not comfortable with it? |
i got a pity C in public speaking in college. i feel for you.
