win2k server question
Why does my win2k server allow one page to be served.. and then not serve anything else? All its serving is a small txt file. It was working fine for about a week and tonight it started doing this shit when i rebooted it.

anybody know why it would just serve one page and then the webserver stop responding?
|
try restarting IIS,
see if you changed the paths to the folder of the webserver. also what do you mean it doesn't serve it? just times out or gives you some kinda error? |

return me the favour of not doing it and i will stop remember i dont back down :glugglug |
are you using iis? i know iis will only hold as many connections as you are licensed for. i forget if the default is 1 or 5... that still doesnt really explain the problem.. try the famous "microsoft solution", reboot and things magically fix themselves..

ive had soem probs running asp>ms access database stuff on w2k where i had to increase the # of threads allowed and bring the timeout way down... otherwise it locked me out (server too busy etc) dont know if that's related or if it was a correct solution..but it worked.

you say it serves the page oen time, then fucks up.. does this mean it works again after a while? I'd check what version of 2K server you have (advanced server/small business server, etc) how many connections it's licensed for.. eg; Set IIS to use 10-100+ connections. You could also reduce the time-out and increase the number of threads allowed. I cant think of anything else really .. try maybe tweaking these settings in IIS admin to troubleshoot it and look for results as you prod the beast with a stick :-) .. always a good idea to stop/start IIS, maybe even stop/start the services and or reboot :-) all else fails.. try *nix ? |
a dumb try (maybe your browser)?
otherwise check the events log on the server, and see if there are any errors there. i wouldn't say it's the connections as it's unlimited by default, if you want you can icq me and i will try to help you |
you provided very few details in the topic, if you still need help in fixing the problem send me an icq msg.
