Anyone watching 60 Minutes?

detoxed 04-18-2004 05:05 PM

the Saudi's are manipulating the oil prices in order to help Bush get kicked out. They are all scared he's going to go after their oil.

I'm sure there doing everything they can to keep bush from re-election. They must know there next?

Heywood Jablome 04-18-2004 05:08 PM

Bob Woodward is trying to sell a book. Just like Richard Clarke.

detoxed 04-18-2004 05:09 PM

I'm writing a book about GFY

xenophobic 04-18-2004 05:15 PM

perhaps he needs low priced oil to keep the black helicoptors flying that feed all the tin foil hat conspiracy nuts out there?

Roger 04-18-2004 05:18 PM

wouldn't surprise me. The Saudis are great manipulators and have good relations with pretty much every US president, especially the Bush's.

angelsofporn 04-18-2004 05:22 PM

bush is saudi arabia's bitch

You think that every single book ever published is untrue, because it's a book?

What about the bible, that's also a book. :1orglaugh

Maybe that's why right wingers seem a little slow - they don't read books? :1orglaugh

No, watching Dateline talk about how Bush scrapped the Clean Air Act so power plants can be more profitable.

DavePlays 04-18-2004 05:35 PM

Sure... nothing we want more than the Saudis picking our next President when they know the people here are just reactionary and don't often look at the big picture.

I think a bunch of you Bush bashers are just suckers doing exactally what some outside influences like this are wanting you to do. Probably nothing the terrorists like to see more than us turning againt the President right now.

anyway... just my :2 cents:

you guys can start your name calling now.....

Ohhhh... and I thought it was so we wouldn't have to depend so much on the Saudis and the Middle East for our needs in the US.

What a silly idea.

Show me what I posted there that isn't 100% true. If you can't, you just proved yourself a retard.

That's bullshit.
You're talking about the guy who cracked the watergate scandal and tied it to the white house. (He won a Pulitzer for that BTW)
This guy does his homework.

What's bullshit, his book?

KRL 04-18-2004 05:47 PM

60 Minutes is produced and aired on CBS

CBS is owned by Viacom

Woodward's book is being publsihed by Simon & Schuster

Simon Schuster is owned by Viacom

:1orglaugh

However, Bob Woodward is the most credible journalist in Washington. He's got the inside track with a lot of the most elite power players there.

The price of oil WILL come down right before the election. That was part of the deal with the Al-Saud family.

Yeah the Saudis in collaboration with Al-Qaeda and Bob Woodward are involved in some kind of conspiracy to get rid of Bush :)

You don't know the first thing about the house of Saud do you? They and there Kuwaiti friends have always been every super power's bitch starting during the Ottoman empire.

KRL well said.

Heywood Jablome, apparently you have nothing intelligent to add to the conversation and all you can do is make smart ass remarks since you have no facts to back up your position....that's a great debate strategy :1orglaugh

:1orglaugh You got me! Woodward doesn't have a book, neither does Clarke. You guys win!

Roger 04-18-2004 06:15 PM

This guy is nuts

Bush told Woodward that he was driven by God, and that he did not talk to his dad because he had a "higher father".

AlienQ - BANNED FOR LIFE 04-18-2004 06:17 PM

Bush is a War Criminal.

We understand propaganda when we hear it.

If I remember correctly every tell all book about clinton, written by real insiders was branded a pack of lies by the press.

Yeah, and why weren't you Bush supporters saying that kind of stuff when he wrote his first book Bush at War. Oh that's right you guys loved his portrayal there.

Roger 04-18-2004 06:29 PM

Quote:

But, it turns out, two days before the president told Powell, Cheney and Rumsfeld had already briefed Prince Bandar, the Saudi ambassador.

?Saturday, Jan. 11, with the president's permission, Cheney and Rumsfeld call Bandar to Cheney's West Wing office, and the chairman of the Joint Chiefs, Gen. Myers, is there with a top-secret map of the war plan. And it says, ?Top secret. No foreign.? No foreign means no foreigners are supposed to see this,? says Woodward.

?They describe in detail the war plan for Bandar. And so Bandar, who's skeptical because he knows in the first Gulf War we didn't get Saddam out, so he says to Cheney and Rumsfeld, ?So Saddam this time is gonna be out, period?? And Cheney who has said nothing says the following: ?Prince Bandar, once we start, Saddam is toast.?"

After Bandar left, according to Woodward, Cheney said, ?I wanted him to know that this is for real. We're really doing it."

But this wasn?t enough for Prince Bandar, who Woodward says wanted confirmation from the president. ?Then, two days later, Bandar is called to meet with the president and the president says, ?Their message is my message,?? says Woodward.

Isn't it funny how whenever a book or news column we agree with comes out its "good journalism" and whenever something we don't agree with or like comes out its "propaganda"?

KRL 04-18-2004 06:55 PM

Dick Cheney took Bandar aside, had Dick Myers Chairman of the Joint Chiefs show him the War Plan maps (which were marked NOFOR - which means not to be shown to any foreigners) and guaranteed the Saudi's that Saddam would be toast this time unlike round one in '91.

Is the average right wingers IQ 90?

Let me educate you since obviously you have no clue whats going on in the world.

One purpose of The Clean Air Act is to force power plants that use COAL to produce electricity to limit the amount of air pullution they produce. It has nothing to do with Saudi oil. Bush stopped the EPA from investigating any power plant that is violating the Act. I'm sure you think this is a great idea since you believe the greenhouse effect means better gardens.

If you can read....

PART ONE: the problem

Quote:

Sunday, 4 April, 2004

US gasoline prices have risen sharply after Opec decided to cut output. The consequences might be felt in the Presidential election.

Record US gasoline prices at the pump are proving a political headache for President George W Bush as he seeks re-election in 2004.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/business/3594475.stm

PART TWO : the solution

Quote:

Saudi Arabia has vowed to ensure world oil supplies will remain plentiful, in light of Opec's decision to cut output.
"We will not allow shortages in the market," said Prince Bandar bin Sultan, the Saudi Ambassador to the US, after meeting President George W Bush.

Opec reduced production - by one million barrels per day - in order to provoke an orderly easing in prices.

Why would the BBC be selling newspapers?

Liberals :1orglaugh

Digipimp 04-18-2004 08:43 PM

King George's father works for the Saudis for those of you that don't know. It's typical for top US officials to get jobs with the countries that they have helped the most during their time in office. They work under corporations that are essentially owned by the government of whatever country it may be.

Woodward also claims that the Bush administration misappropriated funds meant for the war in Afghanistan and then lied to Congress about it.
Hard to believe that he would make something like that up-
It would be way too easy to disprove it if it wasn't the truth.

Plus,he has audio tapes of all his interviews and 60 Mins. reviewed them before airing the story, just to cover their own asses.
This will certainly be investigated and then we'll find out who is lying.

Can you spell IMPEACHMENT ???

...reminds of a thing George Carlin did about drivers.

How people that drive faster than you are idiots and people who drive slower than you are fools.

We had a lot of school consolidation here in the 90's. Same thing there, if "you" went to a school they were going to close it awful. If they were closing one you didn't go to, it was progress.

Unfortunately it seems lying about the reasons to go to war and sending in troops under false pretenses isn't an impeachable offense.

Lying about getting a blowjob on the other hand......
