The most expensive American movie ever

Ok smart guys... That is the most expensive American movie ever? Is there anyone who knows? :winkwink:

xenophobic 04-18-2004 04:19 PM

waterworld?

Fletch XXX 04-18-2004 04:20 PM

plan 9 from outer space?

just a punk 04-18-2004 04:22 PM

wrong :)

GirlV 04-18-2004 04:24 PM

well it has to be AMERICAN right, which means it was filmed in the united states which would rule out the lord of the rings films. I am going to say titanic at a whopping 200 million. but if your talking about anywhere, harry potter and the goblet of fire is supposed to be the most expensive single film ever at 380 million.

TheMob 04-18-2004 04:24 PM

pearl harbor?

I guess I should correct myself. titanic was filmed largely in mexico so that would rule it out too I suppose..hmmm. enlighten us.

just a punk 04-18-2004 04:25 PM

Hint: the overall budget is about $40 billions :winkwink:

Webasic 04-18-2004 04:35 PM

you said "movie". What "movie" did NASA make?

Giorgio_Xo 04-18-2004 04:35 PM

American made or financed? Most expensive movie ever was Titanic. The LOTR budget was larger but it resulted in three features.

hershie 04-18-2004 04:35 PM

The Thin Blue Line was filmed in IMAX aboard NASA's shuttle.

Well, it's got to be a trick question then.

I'd say "Gone With The Wind" was the most expensive when you adjust for today's dollars.

hershie 04-18-2004 04:38 PM

Maybe it was the compilation NASA made for aliens when they find us or the satelite we put the film on to see what we are all about. It has greetings...in several langiuages and clips from all sorts of commercials and tv programs and films...

No, it was really the trip to the moon. The had the most expensive decorations and "video" effects for that time. My applause to Dildozer!

I don't imagine the whole objective was to film that. I'm sure they were doing more up there at the time. So I can't see how that would count.
