April 16, 2004 - DirecTV Settles With PaySystems
What I find of interest is that I used them for selling tangible goods till I got cut off ( terminated) with not a single minute of notice and for no reasons other that it was " adult" ( that product was accepted at that time) .
I had told them ( Forrest) that they were providing payment services for illegal activities ... but he didn't care at that time....
Quote:
DirecTV said it agreed to settle a lawsuit it filed last fall against PaySystems, a Canadian Internet payment processor, and a number of "John Doe" defendants who DirecTV claimed were processing payments for merchants allegedly selling goods marketed or designed to allow piracy of the satellite TV service.
Specific terms of the settlement agreement remain confidential. As part of the resolution, however, PaySystems is subject to an injunction prohibiting it from offering any services to merchants selling goods marketed or designed to allow piracy of satellite signals in the future, DirecTV said.
DirecTV said the lawsuit against PaySystems represented an expansion of its anti-piracy enforcement strategy and that similar actions would likely follow in the future.
