I'm taking Lensman's advice.
I don't want any customs hassles like SleazyDream had so I am putting a fresh OS install on my laptop before heading to Europe.
Let them look through that shit all they like....No porn or financial records whatsoever. :glugglug |
good idea. I wouldn't even have thought of that.

carry a small portable hard drive in your underwear
:1orglaugh |
Aaron - you should also encript... trust me
contact me if any questions.. |
Good idea.

get a program called bestcrypt.... will save you a lot of hassles.. creates a virtual drive where you dump all of your sensitive info in... its strongly encrypted so they'll have fun trying ot break into it, and it also becomes hidden if you want it to.
pretty sweet program... try it out... |
Thought you were repenting today
|
good idea, you can also fedex it to your destination

It always amazes me how ignorant governments are about technology and how the internet works. One can easily have CP on a box and never know.

I've been considering this situation in advance of some travel plans coming up this summer. Its looking like i'll image the harddrive out to my iPod and format the system.
Then once at destination, hahahahaha the image back to the harddisk and I'm back to full working order. I doubt they'd be clever enough to work out that I might be carrying the entire contents of my computer on the mp3 player.. ;) |
Keychain Memory Device for all your most inportant stuff when traveling. :2 cents:
|
Use nortons ghost to ghost an image burn it on a dvd then format and install the new OS ghost the new OS and burn it on a second dvd. when you get where you are going ghost your original back to the laptop when you get ready to leave ghost the clean os to the laptop. Using nortons ghost takes about 30 minutes for 4 gigs of data
|
formating does cover anything
|
You'll be ok when you get to Glasgow airport. I came through with my laptop no problem. And when coming back from vegas Paul walked through no problem with his laptop.

Isn't there just some form you are supposed to fill out before you go on a trip so the gov't doesnt think you bought the laptop out of the country?
I can't see how they would have any right to search your HD. |

encrypting would be dumb. it would just raise red flags like you're hiding something and you would get hassled 10x as much.
|
Good idea definitly:winkwink:
