AIDS has been an epidemic for over 20 years now. A few new cases is nothing new. If people have been stupid up to this point, I'm sure they will continue to be.

I wouldn't have casual sex in the first place - people really need to take better care of themselves - safety first!!!!

Peter Romero 04-16-2004 08:50 AM

I tend to agree with you . However in times like these when its in the forefront, being Highly publicised, some people might stop , listen, and learn They are under the illusion it can never happen to me, but when they see it happening to High profile people, it might sink in.:2 cents:

In scope of "the real world" a few porn actors are hardly considered "High Profile". I hadn't heard most of those names before Wednesday. Had this had happened to a name that most people recognize, things might be different. In this case, we've got people who get paid to have sex getting a disease that's transfer via sexual intercourse.

I think most "real world" people will chastise those infected before rethinking or reworking what they do.

I know the real world aspect, but the question was basically to this board, most of whom maybee involved in the industry.

No kidding? wow.

I just can't watch condom porn because I know it doesn't feel good so I can never really get into the full fantasy of it. If I am looking for DVDs and I see a condom on the back, I put it down. Or if it's not totally clear that it's bareback, I will skip it and go buy something from RLD or a company I know is non-condom.

But that's just me.

You wont find any porn star ass kissing in LA unless you are a TV reporter outside of AIM Healthcare... for at least 2 months.

no change in attitude.

my models work without condoms.

but i ONLY shoot couples who are already in an on-going sexual relationship.

this gives two benefits.

1. the imagery is more realistic because the people actually have some affection for one another.

2. you don't introduce new health risk to the models.

and you will probably see this scenario more and more, girls only working with boyfriends and spouses, or only doing girl/girl.

the surfer will begin to realize that noncondom sex is true reality sex between people that actually have some relationship which will lend "hotness" to the scene, and condom sex will have the artificial look of strangers fucking who don't really care for one another.

There are and always will be exceptions to the rule:thumbsup

From an industry standpoint, I'd hope they will institute more frequent testing as a standard, and do something with performers that are not in a strict environment before they can work again in the Valley, or anywhere in the states.

If the studios refuse to work with performers who have tests older than a week, then performers will just have to start budgeting for more frequent testing if they want work.

Alot of these girls are also dancers and escorts, and the fact that they could be second or third gen at risks and might be out working turning tricks while they can't get work in film is a scary thought. Especially since these are not the crack whores working the corner downtown type girls for the most part.

The problem with HIV is that you can't look at someone and tell they are clean or infected, you can't know, you can't trust a condom 100%, bodily fluids can be exchanged via mouth as well as genital areas, and a paper cut on your finger could be an entry point for infection as easily as anything else.

I've got friends that are positive, had friends die from this, it sucks, sucks, sucks, that's for sure.
