Just how in the hell do you guys do it?

I'm still pretty much a newb when it comes to the adult industry. (Been promoting some things for about a month.) My question to everyone here is: How do you do it? Let me explain my question..

I have NO content that is my own. I've been pushing a few sponsors via adwords with some success. Basically what I'm doing is promoting the site directly. I'm just sending all of my traffic directly to the site that I'm promoting, which can work well enough.

That being said, I'm looking into expanding myself and making a site. My design skills are just fine, so that's not the problem. My problem is that I have zippo content that is mine. You guys that just push sponsor programs, how do you do it? I'm aware that some sponsors provide content for you, but i'm sure most of you go beyond that.

I've been in affiliate marketing for about a year now and am making a decent enough chunk of change to pay for my "fun" expenses. Mainstream has always been my game, so the adult side is fairly foreign to me.

So, how does a guy with no experience, no content, and hardly a clue what do do succeed on this side of the industry?

Ive read the tutorials...I'm just looking for more of a personal story, tips from the masters...etc... Anything that I can learn from.

contact me, i might be able to help you out

The Heron 04-15-2004 10:23 AM

If you can't figure that out from reading the newbie articles and your own common sense my advice to you is QUIT NOW. Stupidity will not make your rich.

ZeroFate 04-15-2004 10:25 AM

If you read my entire post maybe you would have noticed that I said I was looking for personal experiences...etc.

I probably could have worded my post better, but basically I just want to know how in the hell you guys did it. I'd like to hear it from an actual person than just an article someone threw together. :thumbsup

a good advice I can give you is: don't always listen to others. what works for them might not work for you or vice versa.

next good advice I can give you is try promoting as many niches as you can think of, don't stay with just 1.

next is, DON'T stick your ass with only 1 sponsor. that's a grand mistake - to be married with a sponsor. try 100 of them then see which you think is honest and push them more.

don't always believe what people here say - some are newbies as well and just talking BS they know nothing about.

don't expect people to give out their moneymaking ideas. if they did that they wouldn't be making money. expect to find good advices now and then, but to hear about them you have to be glued to boards and that is unproductive.

you'll simply have to work and discover what works and what not by yourself. know also that if you don't have any brainstorming ideas to offer no one is gonna share theirs with you either.

ther are only 2 things affiliate must know:
- how (where) to get traffic
- marketing skills.

shit that were a few good ones... any more? one thing I find funny is that you started with adwords. spending money to make money. some newbies to the industry simply don't understand that concept :)

anyway, good luck and make a killing. following these few advices I gave you will make you get there faster :)

McSpike 04-15-2004 12:03 PM

oh and another few comes to mind:

people will say this and that sponsor converts best for them. stick to my advice: what works for them might not work for you. you don't know how they push their traffic there and where do they get it from.

don't fall for good conversion rates people will post. they mean shit when you don't know what traffic and marketing methods were used. if traffic is very filtered and very productive you can have conversion ratios even as low as 1:25 (I had em for months - won't tell where and how tho :)) and you can have them 1:1000 and that could be good (if you can covert the lowest possible quality traffic at that ratios)... conversion ratios are relative... what's important is how much money you make - that's the bottom line. remember that.

Thanks everyone! Some really good posts here. And about adwords, I dont mind spending money if it's going to make me a good profit in the long run. (which it's doing right now, but obviously i'm greedy and want more. :1orglaugh )

Of course, if you dont know what you're doing you can lose $100+ a day, so it's a really complicated game...

Thanks again! :thumbsup

There is a certain thread on a certain board where a lot of great webmasters posted their best helpful tips and stories etc, which a lot of newer guys have said they found invaluable.

Anyone can shoot me an ICQ and I'll share the link to that thread with you.

For 2000 $, you can get like 40 hours of film and 77 000 pictures liscenced on 10 domains .

Very easy and very small investement

Or you can use sponsor content . Most sponsor will provide you with liscence to free content as long as you promote them with the content.

It's not real complicated, hours of searching on google.com and you start noticing stuff, typing in big domains you start noticing stuff, going 100% independent and making 10 times what you used to you start noticing stuff, linking all of your sites together with pr6 sites then you start noticing stuff, adding a bunch of newslines and photos and fooling with the site titlebar then you start noticing stuff. Gee, is it really that hard?

Pornwolf 04-17-2004 02:27 PM

If you are making money doing what you are doing... do it more! You don't have to buy content... EVER... unless you are starting your own sites. You don't even need websites. I know guys who do 2-400 joins daily just by buying banner ads and PPC search traffic.

There's no one way of making money in this business. What I have noticed is half of the rich people in the business don't even know how to make a site in notepad.

Find what works for you and just keep plowing all your profits back into it to grow it.

ZeroFate 04-17-2004 08:37 PM

Yeah, I'm thinking of just expanding with adwords. I just want to dip into actually running my own site, but now that I think about it...why the hell go through all of the trouble?

Ive got 2 mainstream sites that are doing pretty well, and Im running some adult adwords campaigns that are brining in a profit. Maybe I'm just greedy! :1orglaugh

You have to be a fast reader with a sharp mind with lots of new ideas. Being creative and original also helps. Good luck!

pimplink 04-20-2004 12:56 AM

Try to be original as much as possible. And you must have lots of humor to get you going. Be attentive to details, even the smallest ones.
