I am going over to see one of the girls that is on the list of being of one of the 1st generation of people that have worked with Darren James.

I do not want people to treat this as a joke ......... this is a VERY serious issue.

The girl right now is very freaked out and needs to express her thoughts and feelings !

I was contacted by a news organization to do an exclusive story about her and need questions to ask her.

what will she do if she finds out she's positive?
how will she tell her family?
does her family already know what she does for a living?

where does she place the blame? The actor that kept working, or the studio for not doing enoufgh to protect this from happening, what does she feel the producer could have/should have done different.

Do you think that in the name of work that some false tests are ever approved, i.e. do you see the proof of tests from aim yourself, or do you trust the producer to stay on top of that.


do you feel any legal recouse to the producer/ Talent if you are diagnosed? what about just for the scare and potentila loss of work if even found negative on the test results. do you feel you are owed compensation for your time off for tis and by whom?

do you feel you have encurred any damages due to the release of this information to all? or do you feel it was the right thing to do on AVN part for publicising this info ?

If she can't shoot porn for a month or two, what will she do for an income?

Have you had sex with any one since the movie shoot, and were any of them uncontactable strangers ?

Does she have any anger towards darren james?

If the results turn up negitive for HIV. Will this change the ways you model for videos? IE Condoms only or Would this not effect you?

That's what I was thinking too. Do performers realise how possible this scenario is?

If she ends up being NEGITIVE, will she take extra pre-cautions from now on, like condoms, better and more frequent testing, or just get out of the business altogether?

How does she feel about porn producers insistence or non-insistence on using condoms in a shoot? Will she continue to work with producers who insist on no-condom shoots?

First and foremost, I hope she's getting some type of counseling, help from social workers/psychologists/therapists specialized with people living her 'hell' at the moment - and let her know our prayers go out to all of them.

If the results come in negative, how will this change the way she choses her contracts/working partners?

When not working/filming a scene/or in their 'regular' life, does she feel porn actors should be more cautious with their sex partners?

When vacationing, do you feel that porn actors (or anyone else for that matter) are more careless with who they choose to have sex with?

Do you feel there should be better 'control' environments for porn actors?
Example: Keep a limited amount of people you work with - where an arrangement and 'health' commitment is taken and nobody goes out of the circle of partners - if someone does a certain amount of time has to be pass & testing has to be made until they can shoot porn again.

Quite frankly, in retrospect we all know the answers and I'm throwing in the vacationing part (I know he was working) but I feel that somethings come as second nature (meeting someone on vacation - you're single, the moment is right and you don't have condoms) people aren't thinking of those consequences. In any foreign country your body reacts differently to the climate changes, the flight, the chemical they spray on the planes for sanitation & keeping foreign bacteria at bay - so all those factors can camouflage results for a while to come.

If an actor has travelled and had sex (will they really tell you?) - I think there should be 'quarantine' period in the sense that there should be no 'sex' - it should be voluntary on the public side and within the industry it must be enforced.

are STD's and HIV often talked about on the video shoots? Do you discuss it with the other actors/actresses you work with before filming begins?

Are STD's common in the adult industry? Do you often hear about other actors/actresses getting chlamydia, gonorrhea, etc?

Before this event, was the testing system and actors health a real concern for you, or did you think "it won't happen to me"?

It must be scary for her and others waiting for the results, however, did she have a sense invincibility, since she was having unprotected sex with so-called ?clean? porn stars?

In the case where you have a spouse/boyfriend - how is he/she taking this news & the possibility that he/she may be infected also?
Has he/she been tested?
Is there a possibility that he/she has had sex with someone else without protection?

she has good right to be freaked - be nice to her, she's a human being like anyone else who was unknowling put into a life threatening situation. No different than waiting to find out if you have cancer or not.

Ask her if she has any sort of medical insurance that'll cover drug costs - Tell her that if caught early enough HIV can be controlled for years with drugs.

Also remind her that hundreds of people are working on a cure - if diagnosed and treated there is no reason to believe it'll be fatal within the next 10 years. But if positive she will have to go through a lifestyle change - sex is really out of the question cept with other positive people and ask her how she feels about that?

Also ask her if she had sex with anyone after the infected guy - what kind of sex she had with them (condom, anal, etc) and if she took steps to inform those people of the potential risk she unknowingly exposed them to.

positive or not, HUG HER. dont' be afraid to. You will not catch aids form a hug. there is a good chance she is feeling very alone right now and like noone will want to ever touch her again and if that's true that's just wrong.

I hope she hasn't.

There seems to be a conspiracy theory that it's drug use, malnutrition and other stuff that causes aids, but that hiv doesn't... lots of weird stuff out there...

Last week I tried to help her by getting enough money to get home and not even be invloved in the Porn Industry. She came to LA unprepared and did'nt know anyone. I tired to give her the best advice and told her to go home. She was pretty set on working and making some money.

Now is facing a serious issue and can use any support she can get !

Mutt, does any1 have any word how Darren James is doing? Alot of the worry & concern is being put forth for the people who are waiting for the results, but he already has them - is any1 taking care of him? Support group of friends?

Out of curiosity, has it be medically confirmed (through the partners in Brazil) that it was contacted there? If so, was he treated at any hospital in Brazil? If yes, were they now contacted to advise of these results?


Why I bring this up:
A world renowned female pediatric surgeon died of Aids in Montreal last year - a few months later it was confirmed that she was still performing surgery (with the approval of the advisory board) - after being diagnosed for about 8-10 years after infection. The way she got it was by trying to save a little boy that came from the New York - in the emergency room. I believe he was severely dehydrated and going into convulsions when she was called in to help the 2-3 nurses who had failed to get the IV in the boy. She got the needle in, but if I recall this correctly - I think blood overflowed or she pricked her finger, had a cut already on her hand and in the rush/emergency, didn't put on surgical gloves. His parents failed to advise of his condition - he died about a month later. She had her death sentence at 33 and died at 43.
