Which FiREWALL do you recommend?

I've been using Sygate Personal Firewall Pro for the past few year and was wondering if there was anything better?

I've heard a lot of talk about Zonealarm...

Which ones have you tried and like the best?

BigFrog 04-14-2004 01:26 AM

the physical kind.

Well... I took one of my old computers to install FreeBSD on and use as a router... installed APF on it and blocked all the ports except for the ones I use...

Wouldn't it still be good to have a firewall running on my workstation?

a ROUTER!

I loooooove Zone Alarm. Been using it for years. It was the only one that showed you not only what was trying to connect *in* to your computer, but what stuff on your computer was trying to connect *out* to the net. Best feature ever.

a router and zone alarm will help but dont ever think that your safe online. If somehahahaha wants into your system they will get in if they have the proper skills. Computers are all parts of other networks, if those networks were compromised you could be as well.

two cheap routers... with them you can setup a DMZ. Better than any software firewall solution

I've used it for some time now and it's top-notch

Behind a router and use zone alarm pro.
