if you've visited or lived there, did you like it? and why?


I have a friend who is hell bent on moving to one of the countries in the Med but not sure which ones to focus their research on prior to making some visits....

Greece is BEAUTIFUL. My favourite part was Knossos, but the rest of the Peleponessos (sp?) was wonderful, too. I don't know how stable the politics are, and the pollution is awful, but goodness.. it's just so beautiful!

Thanks Elli...I had a friend who lived on Crete for a while, and she RAVED about it...I'm thinking Greece is surely high on this list...

been there. as far as spain goes though, i'd recommend the costa del sol....specifically malaga......beautiful there, and the people are great. had a friend from there and was able to spend a few days with his family in malaga. had a great fucking time.

I've been to Sharm el Sheikh, Egypt, Rome, Italy and Beirut, Lebanon. All for business so I didn't get to do much in the way of sightseeing.

In Beirut, we had armed escorts with us 24/7...one even stood guard ourside of our hotel rooms at night. I still don't know if they were there to protect us or watching over some Elvis memorabilia. :winkwink:

Of all those on your list...I'd go with Italy. The Adriatic coast.

Yes, I spent 3.5 weeks there years ago and fell in love with the place. It's hard to explain. If you like history though, it's like you're living history, just walking through the ruins or the farmlands. The huge trees alone could be the same that the old archeologists sat under hundreds of years ago. And the weather.. and the beaches... ohhhh I need to go back!

coastal cities are the best choice, i live in one of those. in summer when all young europeans from all around the world come here is the haven :thumbsup

culture is now pretty modern, open and liberal, we hope we will join european union next year. crime is on the minimal (though you can get weed in every corner) and people are good and pleasent especially with the foreigners... :-)

Malta is a big NO.
Stupid conservative island. Nothing to do and the nature is not as pretty as you would expect from its situation.
There is only salt water around. The swimmingpools are filled with it and the beer they brew with salt water. WIth diving the water is always unclear. I could not wait to get away from the island.

Why doesn't he go on a tour first? Invest some time in your future...

I've only been to France and Greece on that list. I lived in China for 2 years but I don't think I could live in another country not speaking the language. You eventually learn it but it's a pain in the ass until you do. Greece is very nice though. I would definately go back. I don't think I'd live there though. Australia is pretty good.

I visited italy,greece,croatia,macedonia,tunisia,lived in france..
all that countries except macedonia are very nice for living but also expencive...
I live in Serbia-Belgrade...3 million p[eople in this city..have all u need and want...but liing prices are very great and affordable,in same country u have great sea-side,beaches,also mountains...and with 2000$ monthly u can live like a god here...
So yes i choose Serbia:thumbsup

2) South of France (and/or Corsica) - Yeah very nice, I loved France.
9) Greece (and/or Crete) - Quite nice, good food and nice beaches.
10) South of Turkey (and/or Cyprus) - Cyprus rocks, I think it's the best country I've visited.
11) Syria - Quite bad.
12) Lebanon - Very nice, I'd have bought a home in there but ya never know, the super powers will stirr trouble in that part.
14) Egypt - worst country I've visited, bad experiences, very dirty, too many people.

From those countries, I've been in Italy, Spain, Monaco and Croatia.

Italy - Rome, Venice, Verona
Spain - Barcelona, Lloret de Mar, Blanes
Croatia - Makarska, Brela, Podgora......

All those places are very beautiful, I am still coming back very often to Croatia, esp. Makarska Riviera, this place is living a lot, a lots of great parties....., history and culture, you 'll love it!
