R40 insulation value. . |

That long one looks like a worm. Wouldnt the lack of straight walls bother you?
|
Delivery costs.....(from the website)
What does delivery cost? Delivery cost approximately $2 a loaded mile. The 1370 are the largest Dome that will fit on a semi. $2 per mile!!!! It would cost thousands just to get the thing to your area depending on where you are. |
its like a high tech trailer

Looks like a home out of star wars
|
I lived in one in Costa Rica for a while. They are very energy efficient and durable. Its like a big fort:)
|
That reminds me of when my nephew used to watch Teletubbies. Kinda cool though...

I liek the star domes better:
http://www.gardendome.com/sd2c_gallery.html or ...How about a house made out of dirt bags? http://www.networkearth.org/naturalbuilding/honey.html will cost you les sthan a hundred bucks or perhaps a house made out of paper mache: http://www.papercrete.com/ it's virtually free :thumbsup |
They look like they are alien, I would like to have one but not o live in. In the garden, as a fun place or something
|
Alternative housing and superior materials are the way to build! :thumbsup
|
not my taste
|
looks too weird
|
i have experience with purchasing freight
2 dollars a mile is not expensive with todays fuel prices, and especially if the driver does not have a return load. I've seen a few of these home around and they look sorta cheap to me. But for a second home or a vacation house in the mountains maybe. |

I love that these cheap, cool looking homes are also fire-proof, termite-proof, rot-proof, hurricane and earthquake resistant, etc .. and totally no-maintenance.. no painting.. no shingles to replace.. And as you mentioned, an energy-efficent shape for heating/cooling. Seems so much smarter than traditional stick-built homes. I'm very tempted... |
