unfortunately it's a lose lose situation. You take him out and you get violence and piss of more iraqis who become militant, you leave him in and you get violence and he converts more iraqis militant..

Unless they can actually mediate a solution. Which isn't out of the realm of possibility.

The guy is just a US propaganda media creation for domestic consumption so you can put a face on perceived evil and turn your attention away from the fact that Saddam is in jail and the WMD were destroyed or did not exist.

Better to kill his ass and "decapitate" the insurgents leadership and source of motivation. He will be replaced by another crazy fucker, but I think the message we send by killing him would be loud and clear.

Oh I know, I just thinking killing him instead of capturing him and giving him a French lawyer would send a stronger message. If not to the Iraqis, then to American people that this isn't Vietnam 2 and we are accomplishing something.

If we get out, there will be civil war, the bad guys will win and take control of Iraq. Then we'll have to go back in and start everything over, causing more casualties.

These guys aren't terrorists. They're locals led by a community leader, They might be radicals and fundamentalists but they definately aren't terrorists, guerillas or partisans would be a better term. It's like calling US militia groups terrorists if China militarily took America over and they staged a resistance, they're not and these Iraqi's aren't.
There is a difference between these locals and the foreigners coming into Iraq to fight the US soldiers which are concievably terrorists or unlawful combatants or whatever.

Exactly. At least Saddam kept the muslim extremists in check. We can't leave a vacuum that is filled with a Shiite fundy which could lead to full islamic revolution and theocracy.

Wierd; this Sadr guy was not much of a terrorist until someone decided to take away his freedom of speach by using military force to shut down his newspaper.

What I see is kind of like Americans throwing rocks at people and them blamming them when they throw a fucking brick back.
