Online poker - when should I start playing with real money?
Been playing 5/10 holdem with fake money for about a week now, and I'm averaging $1000 per day in profit - time to start playing for real on the small tables, or do I need more practice?

play only 2/4 till you get the hang of it. Don't play 2/4 without at least $500. Don't play 5/10 without at least $1,500 in your bankroll. always go all-in when you have 2/7 in the hole:2 cents: |
lol on the free accounts who actually cares if they win or lose, i'll go all in with a pair. whole different game.

Think I'll try playing 0.5/1 with a $100 bank... any bets on how long it'll take me to lose it all? I reckon I can make it last a week :winkwink: |

that will last you about 15 hours of play if you just broke even. Rake is where your going to get hit. party poker has the highest rake for 0.5/$1 out there FYI |
I would invest some $$ in some good poker books before I put real money on the table.
The play money tables are more for you to get comfortable with the poker site's interface and rate of play etc. You can't compare winning money there to winning money in a live game because people play different when its real money on the table. Remember at the lower limits, especially online, cards rule. Forget about bluffing because there's always 2 or 3 idiots who will call you down when it only costs a couple of dollars to do it. That's my :2 cents: |
I suggest you try Pacific Poker. They have from 10/20 cents and up which is good when you start with real money. Good luck :thumbsup
