Big Named Pornographers for President Bush??

I was recently talking on the phone with the owner of a very large, successful program. He told me he's having a hard time deciding who to vote for in the upcoming election. He went on to explain himself:

Yes, Attorney General John Asshat is a pain. But in the opinion of this program owner, Asshat will be able to make a lot of noise, but won't be able to really DO much of anything. The only damage he can really do are to the people that the industry would be better WITHOUT anyway... Maybe cleaning up the business a little would be good for all of us (except the idiots we got rid of...)

Kerry, on the other hand, WILL raise our taxes. No doubt about that. And owners of large adult programs are DEFINITELY in the group of the higher taxed.

So his conclusion was: do I want higher taxes, or do I want the scum removed from the business and, meanwhile, get to keep more of my money?

Hmmmm....

Discuss.

Donny 04-12-2004 08:54 AM

Think of it this way: Republicans have WANTED to get rid of abortion for years, yet it remains. Just because Asshat WANTS to get rid of porn does NOT mean he'll be able to do it. The public accepts it, for the most part. Asshat will NOT be able to get rid of us. He can cause trouble for some, but he won't really hurt the majority of us.

benc 04-12-2004 08:57 AM

Thats why I think all the political threads are a waste of time. Nothing is going to change. So as*hahahahaha will go after some guys on they very fringe, and maybe push to eliminate hardcore on free sites. I could care less. I rather have that than high taxes.

so what would happen when the government considers this large program owner the "scum"? Then he's fucked..

Porn is porn and scum is scum

Mutt 04-12-2004 09:01 AM

he's wrong. wait until he sees the who these next 50 prosecutions are. he will think differently.

many pornographers forget that they are ........pornographers .... they see all this brutal blowjob, triple anal whatever going on and seem to think that makes what they do less 'pornographic'.
sorry you have lost your perspective on the world, teens putting dildos up their cute little twats is obscene to John Ashhahahahaha and Jerry Falwell and the rest of the American Taliban.

Howard Stern is being forced off the air, they are now going after afternoon soap operas, and not only are these wackos going after what's on the public airwaves they now want to go after HBO and cable, which has nothing to do with the public airwaves.

anyhahahaha who thinks this isn't scary is an idiot.

imageman 04-12-2004 09:02 AM

I think the question should be who is going to let us stay in business ?. Id rather pay higher Taxes and stay in the Adult Business than have some holier-than-thou President dictating what business is or isn't allowed on the internet.

Heywood Jablome 04-12-2004 09:03 AM

The republicans appease the religious right the same way the democrats appease the blacks; a few token gestures, nothing of substance ever changes.

cherrylula 04-12-2004 09:04 AM

Either way, doesn't the gov'ment need all the tax money they can get to continue the "war on terrorism" ?

Rich program owners who vote bush shouldn't do so just to save on their taxes if they support this war bullshit. That is rather pathetic.

I have little faith in it all as it is, but nothing is worse than a hypocrite. Or an overly greedy person.

When you die, ya can't take it with you anyway. :2 cents:

Please see the abortion example. Just because Asshat thinks teens with toys is obscene does not mean the average AMERICAN thinks so. As long as the average american does not deem something obscene, the obscenity law says it's NOT obscene. Asshat can whine all he wants. Remember, a jury must ultimately decide what's obscene and what's not. Remember People v. Larry Flynt?

Mutt 04-12-2004 09:06 AM

sorry, what's going on right now is alot more than 'token gestures' to the religious right. this isn't TIpper Gore's little warning stickers on rock CD's.

Paul Waters 04-12-2004 09:08 AM

The big risk is whether the Repubs want to *clean up* the internet and make it *safe* for children.

Sites would just move off shore, and that would piss them off. Next step is going after the webmasters and producers.

I have nothing to base this on, but I know at least three people who have raised this as a possibility.

do u have Larry Flynt's money? Have you ever been prosecuted by the American government? Defending yourself against a prosecution successful can be a hollow victory when you've lost your house and business in the mean time. And then comes the IRS after you because the federal government doesn't take losing gracefully.

I know to some the sky is falling. But I also think this country has been through similar times. Remember when Larry Flynt was being attacked? Remember in the 80's when women were walking around with big porn banners claiming that pornography will make rapists of all men?

I don't think the sky is falling yet.

I disagree. There's a lot of rhetoric flying around (it is an election year, after all), but there really isn't that much actually happening.

The FCC fined Howard Stern plenty of times during the Clinton administration, the sky didn't fall then, did it?

Mutt 04-12-2004 09:30 AM

True that Stern was fined under Clinton but it's going alot further now, Stern was always an easy target and the FCC had to at least do something to show it didn't approve of his kind of radio - but those fine were token gestures - cost of doing business to Infinity Broadcasting. The fines weren't followed up by more fines.
There was no talk ever of revoking licenses, no bills going through Congress that would hold the broadcaster personally responsible with fines up to half a million dollars per incident.
And yes I know that the bill is supported by the Democrats as well. This is an election year, the Democrats know this is going to be a fairly important issue and one Bush could make political hay with, so they are going along with it. Democrats are pragmatists these days, nohahahaha wants to be another George McGovern.

Bottom line is 12-20 million Americans a week listen to Howard Stern, they want to listen to Howard Stern. 90% of American men visit pornographic websites, the want to view pornography.

Who the fuck is John Ashhahahahaha, Jerry Falwell, Michael Powell to stop
tens of millions of Americans to watch and listen to what they want? The FCC should be abolished - they have scary power that is unchecked, there is no recourse - there will one day be a major case against the FCC and they will lose their power to decide what is obscene. Only a jury of one's peers in a public courtroom should be able to make that decision not some free loading bureaucratic lifers given partronage jobs.

Perfect! You mentioned Falwell! How successful was he again? No, wait, he WASN'T!

Likewise, Asshat will fail.

The sad thing is that Kerry is just as bad as Bush, but he wants to tax the hell out of us and give it to broke crack whores.

I don't see how ANYONE could possibly think RAISING taxes will increase jobs. It's idiocy.

I was hoping another candidate would get the Democratic nomination. Kerry is just another billy bumbler. He's just as stupid as Bush.

It's very hard to overlook his shortcomings. He just wants to say what people want to hear. His voting record shows a crowd pleaser, not a man that can lead a country.

I sure hope he chooses a VERY solid VP candidate.

Do you REALLY think he'll win? I don't think Democrats even believe, or want, that to happen. Hillary could not run in '08 if Kerry wins in '04. The incumbent always gets to run again. I don't think even the Democrats want Kerry to win this time. :(

Paul Markham 04-12-2004 09:48 AM

No one has touched another reason on who we should vote for.

The guy who will make us all richer.

Think about who forms your client base. Which group are they from?

Billionaires.
Millionaires.
Rich.
Well off.
Average Joes.

Now ask yourself who is going to put more money into the pockets of your which catagory. More money for them to have a few more pleasures in life. I would happily pay 10% more in tax if my bottom line went up by 10% becasue 90% of that would be profit.

Yes Bush may cut taxes for a few, he still has to pay for the war and the debt he ran up. But are the few the ones who make us all richer?

Look, just the HINT of a threat and increased fines has forced Howard off of hundreds of stations.

Next is cable TV and HBO, and all the small to medium to large internet porn shops that don't have the financial backing to defend themselves...

If you are comforting yourself by thinking that taking hardcore off of American-based freesites is going to increase your conversions, think again. Its only going to drive traffic to non-US based webmasters who have the freedom to show what they want. For paysite owners, this won't matter much because they will just start getting all their revenues from non-us affiliates. For US based TGP owners, small affiliates, linklist, SEO, you name it, its a major impact.

You know this and I know this...but how many American porn-enthusiasts (and I'm not talking pornographers, I'm talking consumers) are going to be vocally standing up for their rights if Assclown and his right-wing cohorts are successful in their attack on the first amendment?

I can't imagine people marching in the streets to keep this freedom like they would, for example, for abortion. Stern is certainly walking the line, but is mainstream enough to have a vocal majority standing behind him. Can we honestly say the same about porn?

Charly, if I didn't respect you so much I'd call you a fucking dumb ass.

Think about it for a minute: the Democrats harp on how they'll cut taxes for the "average" guy. That sounds fucking great. In reality, the "cut" MAY put an extra $200 or $300 in the guys pocket. Average that out over 12 months and you have $20 bucks a month. Do you think the "average" guy is going to use that 20 bucks to buy a porn membership, or take his wife to the movies? Or beer with buddies? Or, since the entire amount will likely come all at once on his tax returns, blow it within a week on some new toy.

Gimme a break.

If you support the war on terror, then why don't you want to pay more taxes?

Americans are pussies today.

During World War II, Americans were happy to make personal sacrifices for America. Today, right wingers are not willing to sacrifice anything for their country.

If you aren't willing to pay for a war, then you don't really support winning it.

Perhaps they can't stop pornography, but they sure can make it a pain in the ass for us.

Let's say, for example, that they make it illegal to do credit card transactions for adult material at all. Ever. For any country.

Then what? Sure, we endure somehow, but is it worth the hassle if we can avoid it before hand?

Doctor Dre 04-12-2004 01:36 PM

Ok here is my answer

If you leave bush there, the economy will keep going down . That will make you pay more taxes for the next 50 years AND our business will loose a lot of freedom.

If you put kerry on, you'll end up making as much money but getting higher taxes...

Pay a lil more taxes or pay WAY more taxes for 50 years ?

And on top, EVERYONE from any country except US hates bush . He gives USA a very bad international reputation and break international laws that were made for a good reason after WWII.

If you wanna keep looking bad, then vote for bush.

Thatīs the problem. Obscenity is very difficult to define - I think itīs impossible, because it depends on what people think about a behaviour. So obscenity is an instrument which was given - as far as I know from US supreme court - to the politicans to fight what ever they want.

What most of you dumb ass mother fuckers don't realize is that Kerry is not any better. He's NOT our friend. Will I vote for him?? Most likely. Why?? Because I am ready for a change. But do I think this business is any safer with him in office?? Hell no.

Kerry's plan to raise taxes is bullshit. Those of you whining about Bush tax cuts meaning tax increases down the road are fucking morons. Let me repeat that: you are FUCKING MORONS.

Raising taxes now ensures more taxes in the future. Raising taxes DOES NOT create more jobs.

Lower taxes for the rich creates more jobs. Why is that so hard to see? When a rich man has more money, he starts more businesses to get richer. More businesses = more jobs.

Please tell me how raising taxes on the rich and cutting taxes on the average guy will create more jobs? The average guy is going to get a whopping couple hundred extra bucks. That's it. What the FUCK will he do with that? Not a single job will be created.

What it comes down to is that, Democrat or Republican, the country will not see a whole lot of difference. Money will simply be moved around a little differently. Asshat can't shut us down. Kerry can't save us.
