This is not a pro-war or anti-war thread

I expect we can start an intelligent discussion on how best to improve the situation in Iraq.

Maybe some people would like to give there ideas for a more stable Iraq. But no nuke Iraq or withdraw from Iraq ideas. We all know that won't happen. Leave the pro-war and anti-war arguments for other threads.

I was watching the news and they where conducting an interview with a few experts and they also talked with someone involved in the Iraqi governing council. They disagreed a lot of course but they all seemed to agree on a few points though. They all believe that unemployment is really a huge problem in Iraq and that the US have done little to fix the situation. They complained about the fact that the Bush admin is bringing employees from the US and other countries to do a job that Iraqis can do. Driving trucks, picking up trash, construction, etc. should be done by Iraqis and not someone from another country who's paid huge money to come to Iraq, risk his life and do a job.

Its always amusing to read the thoughts of people who seem to think they are so much smarter and more informed than the people in the position to make decisions on going to war. This should be fun :2 cents:

I don't think it's smart to dismiss any ideas without even taking a look at them. Even stupid people sometimes come up with great suggestions.

An important thing to factor in here, is what is the real iraq? we see images on television of crap being blowen up but in reality they are very modern and have cities much alike major cities in usa and other countries.

what are typical jobs and who has them? what education do people have and what do they need?

All questions, no answers.

Yes that I know, although many people around here seem to get Iraq and Afghanistan confused. But since they haven't visited Iraq or know anyone in there, they can't really see it the way it is.

The typical jobs are pretty much the same as ours. Plenty of educated men and women who have a college degree but the unemployment rate in Baghdad alone is at 60% if I'm not mistaken.
