it's not easy to walk a few hundred yards every month or so.

Veterans Day 04-11-2004 04:26 PM

I am no golf fan but golf is unbelievably hard to play none less to be competitive.:2 cents:

Head 04-11-2004 04:27 PM

You do walk 8k. Plus the swing work muscles.

I disagree. You walk 72 holes over 4 days and put up with the mental pressure associated with having over a million on the line.

Could you have made the winning putt today?

I assume were talking about the Masters.

Actually no. I have not played a round in over a year and rarely watch it on tv however the Masters is played about 20 minuts from me so I feel I have a vested intrest in it.

If it was any kind of sport they would have a few thousand fans screaming and yelling on a putt.

Could you make a free throw with 20K people screaming at you?

And have you ever seen a football player have someone else carry an umbrella for him because it rained during the game?

Sad?.

MrIzzz 04-11-2004 04:46 PM

juicy,

next weekend i'll take you to the driving range and i bet you fall in love with golf:glugglug

i can picture you finally connecting with the ball and getting your first drive over 200 yards:1orglaugh you'll be addicted after that

A particular form of this activity.

An activity involving physical exertion and skill that is governed by a set of rules or customs and often undertaken competitively.

thats why its a sport because the dictionary says so

Fabien 04-11-2004 05:28 PM

Because if you walk the shit 5 times a week and and swing 250+ shots a week, its better than sitting your ass in front of a PC:2 cents:
:1orglaugh

Do you play golf ?

TweetyBird 04-11-2004 05:28 PM

Because you get to whip out your putter and sink your balls in a hole!

KRL 04-11-2004 05:33 PM

Like most sports it revolves around hitting it in the hole. But you already have that down pact Mr. Lady Killer!

Just because its not as physical as football, hockey, or contact sports like that doesn't make it any less of a sport. Its still as challenging, if not more so than the others - just less of a physical exertion.

Ash@phpFX 04-12-2004 03:25 AM

its a stamina game, i know when its on tv i cant stay awake for more than a few minutes

So, because people watching golf have more respect for the players when they need to concentrate...that makes it less of a sport? :winkwink:

I dont even play, nor do have any desire to - but I've been to the driving range, and I have respect for how difficult it is. It may not be as visceral and exciting to watch as some other sports; it just requires a different mindset I guess.

flashfire 04-12-2004 03:28 AM

I consider golf a recreational activity not a sport...like shooting pool or playing darts, thats not to say its easy cause I know its not

dav555add 04-12-2004 03:34 AM

Golf is for faggots....
A bunch of sissies swinging metal sticks and running after a "testicle" size ball...
Any given tournament, you got 50 country club white boyes pursuing 1 lost black guy, all of them waving their ridiculous metal stick...:2 cents:

dav555add 04-12-2004 03:39 AM

That's Real Sport:
