SigMonkey at a cross-road: How should cheating be delt with?
Should we just give a rat's ass and let people take SigMonkey stats for what they are worth?
Or should we actively pursue and terminate cheaters, and in so doing boost the profits and validity of undiscovered cheaters (since people will trust SigMonkey stats more if that policy is adopted)? In case you are wondering, we have received reports which we have cross-checked with logs, and the results are here: At least two people are artifically inflating their SigMonkey stats. Please give us your opinions. |
kick their asses off the system, god damn bastards abusing a free service

The first termination in SigMonkey history has taken place.
Dr Phil openly admitted to cheating the system, and even added an implied insult to it at the same time. Do you really want to : DELETE FROM `sigmonkey` WHERE `id` = '638' LIMIT 1 ? ----> YES Bye, Philly! |
thats cool with me, i am sure i could really fake the PAGE VIEWS..its free advertising for u anyway and a waste of space for me. So it can be gone

I think cheaters should be eliminated.
It was blatantly obvious that Dr Phil was cheating. |
i bet for the last 2 weeks they cant find one thread i havent posted in..and i cheat? lol

I am interested in all that you have to say about this, but consider this point:
Solution 1: Don't deal with cheaters. People know that SigMonkey stats are only worth the honesty of the owner of the stats. SigMonkey is used more as a ranking and guideline tool, and its stats aren't outright trusted from an unknown indidividual unless the stats look credible compared to his/hers activity and sig. Pretty much the same as everything else in this industry. You have to lay some reasoning behind your decisions instead of trusting a mere script and a two-man team to lay it out for you. Solution 2: Hunt down cheaters. The system will have less cheaters of course, but with todays sophisticated hitbots, it is simply impossible to catch them all. The dumb cheaters get caught, the smart cheaters prosper, because people lay much more validity and trust in SigMonkey stats. What's more, the responsibility will automatically be laid upon us, the AG team, in case someone screws someone else over with fake SigMonkey stats. Instead of directing all anger towards the culprit, SigMonkey will take its share as well, because we "were supposed to prevent it." |

LOL whooo i made your front page :)

To be honest with you Repetitive Monkey, unless I'm in a purchase form
and somebody shows me my IP I consider them lame and don't give them one bit of serious thought. So the stats I'll ignore as well grouping the whole thing lame and out-of-date useless. This is especially true with hosting porn. You show a day-off husband surfer his IP address and he is going to panic that his info may get his ass in divorce court or something like that. Showing IPs is so 1998. |

Long before humans started playing games, natural selection discovered the fundamentals of game theory and shaped animal societies according to its rules. Within species, individuals adopt alternative competing strategies with frequencies that reflect the success of each strategy. Evolutionary Stable Strategies occur when alternative competing strategies are at equilibrium. Competition within species has generated many Evolutionary Stable Strategies with colourful titles like: Bourgeois, Scrounger, Sneaky, Satellite, Transvestite, and Sex-change. However, co-operation within and between species has generated only one Evolutionary Stable Strategy., TIT FOR TAT. The importance of TIT FOR TAT to the evolution of co-operative behaviour was discovered in a very unusual way, through a worldwide computer competition to find the winning strategy for the well known paradox 'The Prisoner's Dilemma'. In 1981 TIT FOR TAT won that competition, and ever since then it has grown in stature to where it now dominates our thinking about the evolution of co-operative behaviour in animal and human societies. |
