Why did Titanic make more money than Passion of the Christ?

I would bet it outsold the Passion because of fucking 15 year old girls seeing the movie 5 times to see Leo.

He'll probably give it all to the church. He might take back what he put into it but give the profit to the church, build a church, something. He might just give his 10%, but I would say he would give it away.

Maybe because titanic has been out longer?

He's already providing the bulk of the funding for a Catholic church in Southern California. I would not be surprised if he gives most of his profit to the Church.

First, how much do you think he has and makes a year? And how much do you think his small, clannish church costs to run? Secondly, I don't know how you can call his church a 'Catholic' one with a straight face. He may use the word himself (I don't know), but the Tridentine religion he practices has very little to do with the faith that the overwhelming majority of today's Catholics practice. Think the difference between a "Reform" and an "Orthodox" Jew if that helps.

passion is over $300 million.
titanic did $600 million + in the US and over $2billion worldwide
nothing will touch titanic for a very long time. I don't believe anything is close. I have seen behind the scences on both of these movies, Mel did great, but just like LOTR the titanic was just a major project for the director down to such fine details I couldn't believe what I heard.
