Any very quiet Athlon XP fans

my damn CPU fan is pissing me off. it is so damn loud. I heard of those big copper heatsinks that dont even require a fan, but do they actually work.

I dunno I've been doing video edit on a XP and it sucked compared to P4 . I'l stick to my big fans and just place the computer far from me :P

Strife 04-09-2004 10:32 PM

I just use the fan that came with my AMD CPU...much quieter than the massive heatsink I was using before.

as long as you aren't overclocking, the stock fans work great and are really quiet.

Stock fans are shit compared to Zalman's, which are made specifically for noiseless cooling.

Conclusion
The Zalmans are able to disperse more heat than the AeroCool, and still be quieter than a whisper, even when running at full speed. The monstrous surface area does it?s job well. Even the Aluminum-Copper hybrid outperforms other AlCus with only a fraction of the noise. As mentioned previously, users concerned about the weight of the cooler should consider the AlCu model. Others who want best of class cooling without the windtunnel should pick of the Zalman CNPS7000-Cu. This Copper cooler is the real hero here, being able to achieve the lowest temperatures while maintaining good airflow and low noise. Both of these heatsinks receive a well-deserved 9 out of 10, and the OCmodshop seal of approval!

Here's what you need:
http://voodoopc.com/systems/f50.aspx

The entire case acts as a heatsink. Not a single fan in the entire system.

I just baught a good fan and it's really quiet

I have the same problem, I have a P4 with HT. The fans never shut off, and they are so damn loud.

You can search fans by "dBA (Acoustic Noise)" here:

http://www.newegg.com/app/manufactor...alog=62&DEPA=0

this one looks nice
http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProduc...185-103&depa=0

You get to adjust the fan speed (noise) by way of a knob that gets mounted on your case.

Trippekdick 04-10-2004 08:13 AM

i have a amd 2800+ and a cpu fan for 3600+ and its sucks 55*c

Trippekdick 04-10-2004 08:16 AM
