How much is this domain worth?

I registered a bulk load of domains the other day... and today I received this email...

Mr. Trippe,

I went to register the domain name www.moviesallday.com today. I found out that your firm recently registered the same domain name just a few days ago. As a result, I registered the domain name www.moviesallday.net instead.

I came up with a business idea the other day where "Movies All Day" could be a great name for the product. I was wondering if you'd be willing to part with the domain name to prevent future confusion.

Thanks.

I'm not really partial to the domain name... but IMO it's my best domain for a MGP... my others are (MOVIEKEEPER.COM, MOVIEREADY.COM, MOVIESBYWIRE.COM, CDVDMALL.COM, DVDJOINT.COM, and SEEKDVDS.COM)

should I keep it, or what should I ask for it?

detoxed 04-09-2004 05:31 PM

its worth about $10, he'll probably pay $100

buddyjuf 04-09-2004 05:32 PM

100$ will be great :thumbsup

Webasic 04-09-2004 05:34 PM

I'll give you $10.01 :thumbsup

4Pics 04-09-2004 05:35 PM

hahahahaha back and ask what he's willing to pay... maybe you'll get $100-200-300 for a quick register of a name.

Also check the whois on the .net and see if he is lying

MrIzzz 04-09-2004 05:35 PM

take $100 and go buy 10 more

DR_PHIL 04-09-2004 06:12 PM

sucks to be him :thumbsup

jpwhits 04-09-2004 06:15 PM

go high and work down, that way you wont miss out on a high amount of cash

The basic rule is...

...if you are ever contacted about selling a domain you own then if it's
one you have no need for the you ask for $2,500.00 US.

If they don't want to buy it then it's no skin off your nose.

It is a $10.00 special but the point is somebody wants it.

Never speak as the owner of the domain, say you are employed by the owner.

sumphatpimp 04-09-2004 06:25 PM

could work the other way too.........

tell him you are interested in the .net version of the domain, see what he says..................

see just how interested he really is.

FunForOne 04-09-2004 06:26 PM

Sounds like he wants you to give it to him!

I called a guy the other day about a mainstreme domian that I wanted. Nothing to fancy, but something he hadn't put a site on. He said he wanted about 1,000,000 bucks. I was going to offer him about 200.

I dont even think I said goodby!

Damn straight .. also if he is corporate it may adversely affect his clients and his reputation for them to know that an adult site, with a .com exists, or at least you are toying with the idea of turning it into one. If you want an mgp one I have www.themgp.com coming up for sale in a couple of months when i have a clear out if interested.

Best of luck to you ..

tell him you would consider any reasonable offer for it. if hes developing a product he may have a trademark for it and that could have possible complications for you

KDizzla 04-09-2004 09:12 PM

Ask him how much its worth to him.

DBS.US 04-09-2004 09:18 PM

Tell him you have plans for it but you would consider any reasonable offer for it. :2 cents:

Goldstien?

Doctor Dre 04-09-2004 09:42 PM

2500 $ might be a lot ... ask him for 500 then you have some chances :P

Alex Xe 04-10-2004 12:14 AM

50$ maximum

synergysex 04-10-2004 12:46 AM

Ask him to make an offer. He might come back and offer something insanely high, in which case you graciously accept. If he comes back with $10., counter with whateevr you feel is reasonable.

all depends on 2 things..

1. how much cash he has in his pocket
2. how strongly he feels about the idea

Start High and work your way down

riosluts 04-10-2004 12:58 AM

lots of good advice here. say you were planning on developing the domain, but you're open to all offers.

GFED 04-10-2004 10:50 AM

Thanks for all the advice! I think the best so far has been just to tell him I was planning on using that domain for a project, but I will accept any reasonable offer...
