You talk alot of shit, but would you go?

So everyone on here including me talks a lot of shit about the war in Iraq. I didn't think we needed to go, but I don't bother saying that anymore because we're already fucking in there. Now it's a clusterfuck and they have to figure out what we can do that's going to hurt us the least. Every option has a bad ending right now and that's unfortunate. We've got these kids in the military dying and or being hit with serious injuries that barely get reported everyday while we figure it out.

So the question is, would you be willing to pick up a gun, at the governments expense and go to Iraq, Afghanistan, the Philipines or wherever the war is going on and fight for our country whether you agree with the policy or not.

Right now I'm so pissed with what's happening pay for my ticket and weapons and I'm there, what about you? Or are you too afraid, you want to talk a lot of shit from your desk but you're not willing to get in the fucking heat and back it up?

I did.
Some place called Viet Nam.
Cost me my legs.
No I wouldn't do it again.

Viet Nam is not my country. Neither is Iraq or any of these other countries.
Let the bastards that live their fight for THEIR county.

:321GFY

War is not the the shit that the politicians tell you.
First time you get shot at all you care about is keeping you alive, that is all that matters, not the bullshit that some scum bag politician told people.

Please believe me, war is more terrible that words could ever describe, and once you are in it their is no way to stop it.

I hear ya man for real. But once we're there I wanted to know if these people are willing to go and fight for our asses rather than just talk about it. I'll do it, you've done it and gave more than most.

DarkJedi 04-09-2004 04:17 PM

I'd rather be protecting my country from the invaders.

The only problem is they are bringing the war to us and many other countries.

:(

Good question.

The problem is politics twists everything.

If my country was invaded I'd like to think I'd pick up a gun and fight to defend it.

To be sent overseas on something that may or may not be justified - that is another matter.

But - no matter what we think about the war in Iraq we have to support those that are out there fighting the fight. They're doing their job so (hopefully) we don't have to.

Yeah it's a tough question. But I look at it like this, the troops are already there whether I wanted them there or not and their being attacked. Now would you be willing to go and defend your guys once they're already in and facing a tough situation like ours are. And to me I would do it.

Rob 04-09-2004 05:01 PM

It really depends on the situation. I grew up in a military family and my father was an Intel Officer for the Air Force. The military was sortof a second family to me during my childhood so I have mixed feelings about all of this.

If another war broke out similar to WWII then yes, I would volunteer and go to fight knowing that if we lost the war we'd eventually lose our freedom. It would have to be an all out war of that magnitude before I volunteered to go. The Iraq war is about a lot of things but if we [US] chose not to go in, we would not be at a threat at losing our homeland or freedom.

So there you have it. Yes and No.

I apologize for introducing what may seem like a tangent, but the contradictions within that one phrase are why we end up in situations like this.

There are only two circumstances in which you would really be fighting for your country: if it were under threat or if you were promoting its interests. Otherwise you are fighting for political ideology or to pursue someone else's ambitions.

So now back to you. You are your country. Without you it is just a piece of land for which, if you were born and lived elsewhere, you would not spare a second thought. There are millions of people like you, all living in a republic. You have a government made up of people whose role, however they choose to perceive it, is solely to carry out your wishes. They may believe they understand a situation better than you, but in that case their obligation is to attempt to convince you of that. Although they may be allowed under law to make what amount to unilateral decisions, doing so is contrary to the spirit of government "by the people, for the people", etc.

In short, if you genuinely believe that a policy is wrong and you see nothing in it which benefits your country, surely by extension you must believe that you would be damaging your country to support that policy.

You could easily isolated any small section of words from any post and go off on a tangent that's not really related. Everything you said I addressed within the rest of my comments if you chose to actually read it.

The troops are already fucking there whether we like it or not and the question is would you be willing to go in and support them and fight with and for them for their lives as they are out there fighting for yours.

When you join the military you know that you don't have a choice in where you end up, and that you may end up put somewhere by some dumbass politician, but these guys do it for a reason. For most of them it's their only way to get a real chance at a college education. So there are easily bigger issues that could be discussed but my question was specific. Are you willing to go in, now that the troops are already there and being attacked and killed, are you willing to help them out and help them defend themselves which in turn is our country.

The concept of Digipimp to the rescue is all very well, but in reality you would just be swelling the numbers of those who are at risk. For someone who genuinely believes the troops are in danger for no good reason, surely the best way to support them is to work towards bringing them home.

That is the way to work towards bringing them home. You fail to realize that pulling our troops out will create a terrorist haven much much worse than Afghanistan ever was. It's our fault too. The fucking terrorists weren't there until we got there, but they are there now and if we leave it will fall to a radical islamist government aided by Iran which will make our fight in the world that much more difficult. Right now we basically have no good choice at all, but bringing the troops home soon is the worst of our choices unfortunately.

Scott McD 04-09-2004 05:14 PM

A while ago, i'd have said yes. But now i seriously don't think it's fucking worth it.

Not about my own country coming under attack, if that was gonna be something which was gonna affect me, of course you would stand up for your country.

But going to supposedly help out Iraq & it's people, fuck that. Those mofo's aren't civilized, and kill each other for the sake of it, never mind troops from elsewhere.

Fuck them... :321GFY

You aren't addressing anything usefully so long as you refuse to differentiate between government and country. And you will be lucky if you get into many debates without people examining the validity of your questions.

You are doing it again. If you perceive no risk to our lives (and wrong or right, many saw Iraq as posing no such threat) the troops are not out there fighting for our lives. You are merely playing with emotive language to make it difficult for anyone to say no.

Wrong again. The alternative is extremely unattractive, but it exists: soldiers do sometimes opt for prison rather following orders with which they do not agree.

The phrase *Yankee Go Home* has a lot of meaning in Iraq. Withdraw. Now. Immediately. Leave Iraq to the Iraqis.

You went in with delusions that you would be greated as liberators.

You thought that the people Hussain oppressed would rise up and kiss your collective asses.

The reality is that the Shitites and Sunnis are both shooting at your soldiers.

You cannot win. Cut your losses. Get out.

How in the fuck did Iraq bring the war to you? you woke up on morning and GW was saying that Iraq was harbouring terrorists and running around with nukes.
Naturally, you believed every word of it without actually doing any investigating.

KRL 04-09-2004 05:56 PM

The bottom line is the whole planet is fucked up because of greedy corporations, greedy governments, greedy politicians, greedy dictators, greedy businessmen, and the rest of us that allow the greedy fuckers to continue their ways.

tgpmakers 04-09-2004 06:15 PM

It's simple right

SADDAM THREATENED THE WORLD SO THE WORLD HAS TO KILL THE THE THREAT

Imagiine someone coming up to your misses(Those of you that have misseses) and saying that he's gonna kill you unless you do what he says WHAT THE FUCK WOULD YOU DO

eeerrrrr hello to all these antiwar protesters if you think this world is a nice place where people listen to talk than why the fuck does no one listen to talk. Why the fuck do you think there are terorists on the planet because no one listens to each other.

Now I have the problem with women I just don't understand what the fuck there on about half the time and then later they apologise for being out of order.

It's like a fucking terorist they do it for the sake of it there to chicken shit to face the truth and instead decide on fucking violence.

The terorists are like women that don't get there own way. They prey on the inocent and both it doesn't matter as long as it aint the way they want it they make your life hell.

Now of course I aint saying it's like all women of course it aint women aint half as bad but when some women have there period there totaly fucking unreasonable.

That is just an example but for all you anti fucking iraq protestors all I can say is that according to nature only the strongest survives and the bible says good will prevail.

I'm sorry but all the anti war protesters all it makes me think is YOUR CHICKEN FUCKING SHIT.

Now i've said my peece finnaly and some day i hope and pray that there will be no person that wants to take the life of another person just because they don't get there own WAY.

TO ALL THE ANTI WAR PROTESTERS START WATCHING STAR TRECK AND DON'T LIVE IN THE DARK AGES.

And the answer to your question is yes i would go to war to kill some fucking little shits ass that wants to kill another person just because they don't get there own way. Just because the other 99% of the planet doesn't agree with them why the fuck should they start killing people??????????????????????
