Why do sponsors charge processing fees that add up to hundreds

i dont get it.

im looking at checks today and im noticing

11$ fees to mail a check?

what is a check processing fee and why do we pay them?

adding them u[p every week we are talking a couple bones here.

cut the shit, what is the money for? we paying the shave function?

fucking 10% processing fee on every check?

:eek7

cherrylula 04-09-2004 10:55 AM

I will be pulling links shortly.

It is very uncool to be charged some fucking check "processing" fee for $100 checks from a program barely pushed.

I don't mind paying fees, but over $10 to get a fucking $100 check is ridiculous.

Fletch XXX 04-09-2004 10:57 AM

10% is bit much, i wonder if the % changes when the conventions come around

:1orglaugh

eroswebmaster 04-09-2004 10:57 AM

It's because those sponsors are too cheap to eat their own fees for a service they need.

This would be like them charging you a $1 per check to pay off their designs.

DR_PHIL 04-09-2004 10:57 AM

10% is unacceptable shit..with all the sponsors to choose from..please

i wouldnt mind paying a flat fee every check, say 3 bucks or 1 buck, whatever.

but its 10% no matter the amount.

bigger the check, bigger the fee.

cherrylula 04-09-2004 10:59 AM

I can understand like a $3 fee slapped on each check, happens from a few sponsors.

But some random amount that is almost 10%?

And should I expect a fucking $50 processing fee if I make $500 in a pay period? Fuck that, wire fees aren't even that much.

BV 04-09-2004 11:00 AM

I agree, FEES SUCK!

We pay ALL fees, including the card processing fees. :)

serguei 04-09-2004 11:00 AM

Is it a check processing fee or a processor fee?
I only ask because 10% would only make sense on the later.

cherrylula 04-09-2004 11:03 AM

And I bet most people just cash their checks and don't notice either.

Its a shame, but I guess companies need to squeeze a few extra bucks from their affiliates however they can.

Its the new shave.

the check just says "Processing Fee" followed by the amount

Brad Mitchell 04-09-2004 11:06 AM

I could understand a dollar or two... figuring that most 3rd party billers send out probably a ton of tiny checks. More than that seems steep though!

Brad

eroswebmaster 04-09-2004 11:06 AM

You are picking up the service fees that the processor should charge the sponsor.

this would be true if it was the same amount each check.

10% is paying for convention parties

LOL True.

Rictor 04-09-2004 11:21 AM

A lot of sponsors pay around 15% for credit card processing from third party processors. In a revshare, some sponsors pay the whole 15% out of their 50%. Some do 60/40 and split the 15% with you so they really aren't paying you 60%. Some do 60/40 and let you pay the whole processing fee so you actuall get LESS than 50%. You have to pay attention to your checks.

Houdini 04-09-2004 11:21 AM

Funny that you mention this, I was just thinking about this yesterday when I got some checks. Adult webmasters are so used to getting fucked they just accept everything. Just imagine people having to pay to get a check at work. They would be in an uproar. I have half a dozen mainstream sponsors that I push and not a single one charges a fee to send out checks. Just another w.riteoff I guess.

This whole fee shit is ridiculous. Everyone wants their lb of flesh.

So a $100 check comes in the mail. Minus $10 processing fee. Then the bank wants their $15 comission. Then the bank fucks us with a shitty exchange rate.

$100 = £40.

McDonalds pays more. I had some guys from this board put in a good word for me, now I'm just waiting for a phone call.

ztik 04-09-2004 11:33 AM

Only a few of them really bend us over. It is the revshares from ccBill that piss me off. 50% split then the processor fee and then ccBill charges some shit .37 fee so that they don't have to cover the stamp.

Stats remote does not account for all of this so I have to do them and blacks on blondes by hand as the fees are significant.

Sly_RJ 04-09-2004 11:36 AM

Which sponsor is it? Many sponsors split the processing fee with their affiliates.

That's probably what it is. Charging $10 to cut a check is pretty silly.

hope this doesnt turn into me looking like I am singling them out.

but i started looking at check amounts a few months back, (not just this sponsor, ALL sponsors combined)

i honestly had never done so, and i started adding up amounts i was paying and its looking like hundreds every month staright off the top across the board, and am just wondering about the fees.

after you add up about 20+ sponsors, the amount starts to add up, ya know.

money is money

Sly_RJ 04-09-2004 11:44 AM

Yeh, now that I think of it they do charge processing fees. They also pay out 60%, convert great, have tons and tons of totally exclusive websites/available content to use, retain well, have very generous contests, etc, etc, etc.

Stop worrying about the little silly shit and look at the bigger picture.

i am seeing hundreds of bucks fly out of my pocket every month, i simply was asking what the fee was ;)

and how others felt about them

If they're charging more than 10% for each check they send you, it really isn't 60% anymore.

lurking 04-09-2004 11:53 AM

it's the contribute to Epoch's end of the year boat party fee. you've never been invited?

Go check all your 50% CCBill and Epoch checks and see how many truly give you 50%. :winkwink:

Jon 04-09-2004 11:59 AM

I don't promote any CCBill sponsors and most of the Epoch sponsors I promote are PPS.

That's not the point though. A 10% fee for cutting a check is exhorbitant.

A $10 check costs as much to cut as a $1000 check. Why should someone be charged $1 for a $10 check and $100 for a $1000 check?

Doctor Dre 04-09-2004 12:05 PM

WTF 10 $ fee ... They are already taking 10 % off with processing fees ... Fucking rip off
