How did you learn about the ins and outs of the adult biz?
Not a single person here woke up one morning knowing all the ins and outs of the adult industry. You had talents in whether it be designing, web authoring, programming, or marketing but had to learn about the industry one way or another. Some were lucky enough to have mentors that showed them the way, others spent hours upon hours of lurking, learning, and applying.
So how did you learn about it that got you where you are today? Did you use online references? Did you just surf around finding various information? Or did you just decide to build a website and learn as you went? |
I hacked into Oracle Porns computer and left a keystroke logger trojan behind and just replicated everything he does EVER!

Mentors, hours upon hours of lurking, learning, and applying.
Never got much good info from online references. It's all about networking but mostly LISTENING to those who are willing to take the time to help you out. |
reading, trying, fucking it all up, then learning from my mistakes...
also, MOST importantly....Networking with folks. Wthout networking, you are dead....take your computer back to best buy and get a toaster. :thumbsup |
Pioneering.

try something...if it works do more...if it doesn't, try something else. repeat.

I didnt have a mentor, it took me a few months to figure out "everything".
When I first started I was submitting nastydollars generated galleries to thumbzilla and stuff like that. :1orglaugh |
when I was younger I wanted in to porn sites soooo badly. Like when I was 13-15... so since pulling out my credit card wasnt a possibility, I got into the cracking scene. I was a pretty well known cracker and probably pissed off a bunch of you guys. When I turned 18 I kinda realized I was playing on the wrong team and decided to start makin some dough. Since I had been on the scene, I kinda learned how to make a site, what needed to be done, etc. The rest has been trial and error. :)

A lot of reading, design tutorials and working to help maintain Dr. Bizzaro's sites. He also got me into AVS, gallery submitting and he introduced me to many high profile webmasters. He gave me the networking/adult bg that I needed, I incorporated my own knoeledge of GD, and the rest was history! :thumbsup

Bitter, painful experience. Punctuated by failure, despair and hopelessness :winkwink:

I learnt how to take pictures as a kid and when I grew up combining pictures and sex seemed a logical step.
My first set for some uncanny reason got published in Mayfair, the editor must have been on drugs, but it was hard at first. I learnt by talking to, listening and watching some of the UK greatest shoters. Steve Colby John Mason Jack Harrison Joanie Alumn Terry Munns John Graham And also trying to sell to a market where an editor see 5 to 10 more sets then he buys. When you get a rejection on something you thought was good enough, that's learning the hard way. :( |
Trial and Error.
