Tution and taxes
I have a question. Suppose one of my relatives funds like 20% of my tutition for the year. Can he claim that on his taxes.
|
if you are a dependant of his or an employee of his

you can deduct education expenses for yourself or anyone in your business even if the education is not related to your business, you could deduct for pottery or baking classes. it's cool.

if you are a dependant of you dad and it sounds like you are, then yes it is fully tax deductible
assuming you are 24 years of age or younger that business stuff was just an FYI for you and all the people on this board. I could take scuba diving classes and deduct it. It's one of those really really cool deductions that actually seems to benefit the taxpayer |
im not 24 yet but I DO NOT live with my dad. can he still get it deducted
|
if you are over the age of 24 but still dependant, then i think you just have to file an extra form or something. it is still deductible
