I've just spent a good part of this day being shown a wide collection of images shot both in Afghanistan and Iraq.

The images were shot my a friend who is a war photographer - a reputable one who is well-known for his coverage in Vietnam.
These pictures, least most of em, have not been released on the market and hell, I know they will not be, since they are too "inappropriate" for some!! (It was the same problem in the press rooms in Saigon).

I can't say I had EVER seen such an utterly disgusting pile of images in my life - these blow away *any* crap anyone can ever say was either an "excuse" to have any war or even fight in one (that applies to both "sides").

How any "leader" whoever they may be can undertake to send their own people into a war for little reason or some maniac decide to inflict damage on their own people is something beyond *any* rationality.

Now that I have seen some "truth" (that is no way in doubt in my mind now!!) .. when I hear the stupid element use phrases like "nuke em" - I'd love to dump them in the middle of a war and know what it is like.

I also have no doubts any leader who engages in an "illegal" war needs put on trial and dealt with "appropriately".

Sorry I can't publish these pics here - they are not mine to publish and will, least most of them, probably be published years ahead when it is "politically suitable" for history to be shown with some truth.

These images make a total mockery of anyone who considers it "appropriate" for, eg, the US to be anywhere near Iraq or Afghanistan - the cost, ignoring the nice spin on "values of freedom" blah, is too absurd! Some "leaders" need executing now for their part in this!!

This lot leaves me seething with anger and sadness for the victims!!

You can see this same thing throughout the entire course of human history.

It is essential for our species to survive.

Hussein will go on trial and be hahahahahahahad for past crimes.

The US Admin also need a decent and honest trial for the deception and lies to the American people and the world. But not least for the many lives who where lost on both sides in this "lying" invasion and also for the many 1000's more innocent people who have died thru this. Also for the many more who will die on both sides due to that "entertaining" Shock and Awe and the depleted uranium effects. This damage far exceeds any Al-Quada stuff.

bin Laden will be caught by "someone" - the same treatment for him.

Less Americans would have died had Saddam remained in power.

And I suspect less Humans would die had Saddam remained in power, compared to the number of dead so far + the number of dead in the impending civil war that will almost certainly bring in neighbouring nations.

Remember who that "madman" Saddam was killing. The same people we're killing now. Fundamentalists who want an Islamic state. You know the cleric we are targetting now? His brother was killed by Saddam. Saddam gassed the kurds? Guess what.. the Kurds aren't nice people either. They're crazy religious nuts too... commonly killing their own daughters... violently rebelling over land that they haven't controlled in hundreds of years. Saddam couldn't spare the troops while he was warring with Iran (another Islamic state, and a real enemy of the West) so he put down the rebellion with (admittedly brutal) less traditional methods.

Saddam was the only strong secular leader in the region. His brutality kept worse people busy/contained. He was the lesser of two evils. Bush #1 fucked up by making an enemy out of someone who was trying to forcefully secularized the middle east (as we are now), and Bush #2 has now removed the only obstacle to a universal Islamic theocracy.

short term: This administrations policies have turned mainstream moderate muslims across the world against us, recruting more terrorists than Osama could ever hope to.

long term: This administrations policies have more than likely set in motion an East vs. West war that will envelop the globe; involving real armys, not just a few nuts with crude explosives.
