thanks i will try.. just having a issue with the 1 cd they gave me (never used it because i have a 6-1 card reader built into my computer) but want to install the software for going out west and their twain drivers you download as slow as hell for transfering..

NaughtyJenn 04-05-2004 10:32 PM

anyone??

PenetratinP 04-05-2004 10:42 PM

I always hated using the software that came with digital cameras to transfer pics.

Pick yourself up another card reader.....USB 2.0 or Firewire.

I have a Nikon D100...how does the digital Rebel attach to the computer directly? USB 1.1/2.0, Firewire?

I would think that you could just plug the wire they gave you into the Rebel and your laptop(?) and the memory card would show up as a drive in the hahahahahahas file explorer.

normally i would but just need this for going out west with my laptop.. i would think it would create a drive but for some odd reason it doesnt.. it connects with usb if u use the camera to transfer pictures... but since its not showing a drive and the twian drivers are so slow so i need to grab a file off the cd because my cd is acting up for some reason

I found a thread about your problem.

http://www.dpchallenge.com/forum.php...HREAD_ID=76062

There are a few suggestions there......buying an external card reader might still be the easiest thing.

yeah see i dont need to do that since i just need a quick fix for my trip (leaving on wed) and dont wanna waste the $ on a card reader since we do all the processing on the main computer.. just need some files off the cdrom that comes with it so i have the solution to transfer the files faster :)

NaughtyJenn 04-05-2004 10:55 PM

ahhh....sorry....I was reading too fast for my tired mind to comprehend.

I hate leaving things unfinished....so let me try again.

Are you using Win XP/ME or 98/2000 ?

For XP/ME use the WIA drivers. For 98/2000 use the Twain drivers.

Updated Drivers - (Go 3/4 the way down to EOS digital slrs)

According to the table on the link I gave above, you should be using the "WIA" driver for Win XP, not the Twain drivers.

The driver you need is on that link above....near the bottom of the page...under EOS Digital SLRS - Digital Rebel - WIA** - Win ME/XP - Ver 5.2.0

Here's a direct link to the file.

http://www.powershot.com/powershot2/...ers/WIA520.exe

I'd recommend unplugging the camera from the computer. Installing the WIA driver file, restarting, and then try connecting the camera again and see if it shows up in w-indows file explorer as a drive.

NaughtyJenn 04-05-2004 11:31 PM
