Is it possible to have 2 sets of nameservers on the same server?
I have...
srv01.domain1.com ns1.domain1.com ns2.domain1.com srv02.domain2.com ns1.domain2.com ns2.domain2.com I want to have... srv01.domain2.com ns1.domain1.com ns2.domain1.com ns1.domain2.com ns2.domain2.com So that I can move everything off the server without having to change hundreds of DNS configurations... All I have to do is add new IPs from srv01.domain2.com to ns1.domain1.com and ns2.domain1.com... Is it possible? |
Yeah, i'm pretty sure you can do that.

So how would I go about doing this?
I add all 4 nameservers to my setup and my resolv.conf. Add my A entry for each one, but when I create new accounts in cPanel it will take which configuration? |

whats the point of doing that ?
the point of having multiple dns servers is for redundancy, if your main dns goes down second can take over, if you have all of them on same server it fucksup the point of having multple dns servers... :2 cents: |
yea man, you can do that by setting up ya bind files.
we do that for various business reasons. |
Yes, the majority of the ns1/ns2 combos out there are hosted on the same server, even though the people doing so deny it :)
