Wal-Mart City?

Sounds interesting. They want 60 acres to create their own little city within a city full of shops and restaurants. This company is a fucking monster.

tbabe 04-04-2004 11:21 PM

I wonder if they'll throw up some government housing in the middle of it

the article said the neighborhood is half black and half mexican.

so all the spics will pick up the jobs @ the new walmart for below minimum wage, and all the lazy ******s will still continue to sit at home and collect the welfare. As a result of this mega city, the rest of the shops in town will go out of biz. within a year.

buddyjuf 04-04-2004 11:21 PM

fucking wow :thumbsup

walmart is ruining the american economy. it employs the largest percentage of workers over any other corporation, and pays them all less than they should recieve. it's unfortunate.

"less than they should recieve" ???

how much should the highly skilled wal-mart cashier be earning?

Gheenz 04-04-2004 11:59 PM

That's pretty wild...everything is going to be owned by Wal-Mart soon

I have a dumb question though...is WalMart only in the US?

Enough to live on. They are on the front lines doing the actual work. Pay them.

It's all relative honestly. I live in a small community where the main grocery store and such is a Wal-Mart supercenter and so they are one of the better paying jobs in town for a lot of the people here.

However nationwide Wal-Mart does have a few bad practices such as how they label their employees so they avoid giving benefits out and overtime. And in addition they are so monstrous at this point they generally crush locally owned businesses.

Overall I think they have more upside than downside, but I'm not a big fan of giant corps either. But I'd like to visit a Wal-Mart city within a city anyway.

i'm not saying they're highly skilled neccisarily. i'm saying that the ratio of people they employ and pay minimum wage negatively effect our economy as a whole because you have far less of a percentage of people earning a living wage. and in times when inflation is rising it hurts to be stuck at min. wage.

I think that would be neat!

All the power to them. If you have the money you can do what you want.

The number one reason to stay away from Wal-Mart:
