I quit my job an hour ago

I started a job at a supermarket last month doing night stock to supplement my other income. I work on my own doing electric work during the day which makes me ok money for the amount of advertising i do, around $600 a week. I only work maybe 3 days doing electric work so i figured i apply there short term for the benefits.

Anyway I go in tonight like 10 minutes early and as soon as i get in i get blasted with the boss telling me im doing things wrong. I'm like whoa ease up man im 10 minutes early and your telling me this?! Didn't even have my fucking coat off! So I'm like you know what man adios. So he starts chasing me down the isle of the supermarket asking what, what what did i do,lol I'm like for $9 an hour i don't want to hear it. I'm not interested in retail or supermarkets at all. I don't care if the toilet paper needs to be filled or making sure the shelves look pretty. He's like well i gotta tell you what your doing is wrong its my job. So i say yes i know i completely understand, but for stocking shelves i dont wanna hear anything, it takes no brains to stock shelves.

I told him i worked with an electrican for 5 years and never went through this and contractors are the hardest to work for. I said the reason why things are wrong is cause i dont care in the slighest bit. I start day dreaming and thinking about shit other than work, like my own business:1orglaugh I'm like you wanna teach me the fundementals of work? You've been working in a supermarket for 15 years, when you get a real job talk to me then:1orglaugh

lol, I lit up on him, i shouldn't have but it was fun:thumbsup

And tonight a big ass delivery was coming in and he was about to leave to:1orglaugh

Time to pump up the advertising and focus on my own thing that takes brains and concentration. Something i dont need to force myself to stay awake

modelgigtalent 04-04-2004 08:47 PM

Good for you man!
:thumbsup

SirSmokeALot 04-04-2004 08:48 PM

Bro..

I know things may seem scarry at the moment, but the same thing happend to me some 6 years ago when I left healthcare, something I spent 7 years of university education to be in..
Enough was enough. It was a scarry time, but if it had never happened Id be a workaholic paper pushing administrator of some tight ass company.

I quit and I started doing my own shit and the rest is history..
Liberating.

In two years from now you'll see that was the best thing to ever happen to you..

Work on your own shit. Work for yourself..
Use the hate and the bitterness as your fuel..

Make that whore your customer...

Great post
I have to much drive and ambition to work for someone else. Yes at some point in your life its neccesary to work for someone to get the ball rolling. I've been through many bullshit jobs this is not the first i finally started working on my own last year and hadn't had a problem. Just need to go out and advertise more than i am now in more newspapers. I'm getting good word of mouth already. Maybe i should post my ad on their supermarket bulletin board:1orglaugh :thumbsup

RedMonkey 04-04-2004 09:00 PM

Congrats man,
Fuck all those assholes who think they can devalue you at a worthless job, I have had a dozen of them. And if you work hard do it for yourself, fuck having someone else profit off of you.

What kind of a job would you honestly want to put "stock boy at supermarket" for? Especially if you've already had 5 years electrician experience. Anyways, with laws today, employers cannot say anything "bad" about your working there -- it's called slander -- they can only verify the dates and duration of your work period.

Fuck unions i had the oppurtunity to get in but i wont. They just want and try to get every job out there. And if i was in a union id be making alot of money but doing the same every day. They split you up into pipe benders, wire runners, or whatever. I do all different things now and i dont have a dick head foreman on my back:thumbsup

reynold 04-04-2004 09:14 PM

THANK GOD! The reason our country is in this economic mess is because of unions. The reason people don't buy "USA" anymore is because of union prices. It's legalized extortion, and it, along with the stupid electoral college, basically elect our president. Unions should be stopped. Nothing good comes out of a union. It's the reason why most small businesses fail within the first year.

/end rant

SureFire 04-04-2004 09:23 PM

Enjoy the feeling of quitting on your terms, hope it feels great since you don't need references and left the asshole who needs the job in a bind! :)

great fucking post!

look at the auto industry in this country. these ******s sit on an assembly line doing work a trained monkey can do, something that requires no education, and they feel that they need to be paid 20% more than the over-inflated salary that they are making now.

And people wonder why we aren't the kings of the auto industry anymore. Wasted capital.

fuck unions :321GFY

eddie-executive 04-04-2004 09:34 PM

electrical unions are like the mafia. When I worked for an electrician (non union) we had to do work in the Sands Casino in A.C. on their security system. Some how we got in there usually union workers do all casino work. When we got there the union guys where there working on other stuff. They where so ignorant to us wouldn't even tell us where the circuit panels were.:321GFY

What media bullshit may I ask are you speaking of? What I know is from facts, hahahahahahahahaaries, and personal experience. I've never once seen, except for the constant "union strike", unions depicted as anything but glorious in the media. Most of the fuckin' people in the media are unions for christ's sake. Think about what you're saying man, it makes no sense!

See? Legalized extortion. Nothing good comes from a union.

Unions are stupid! Sweatshops rule!

You DO realize that without unions, an 8 hour day would seem "lazy." Right?

reynold 04-05-2004 12:02 AM

Quitting a job is no joke. But I know you have
reasons behind it. So, good luck!

GeorgeJetson 04-05-2004 12:23 AM

The modern work ethic is a myth. Pride in one's work is gone.

Damn. We might as well be french.

I suppose the only solace we can draw is that if you do one day own your own business, you'll get to be on the other side of apathetic employees who see nothing wrong with doing a half assed job and then quitting when they are needed most.

I don't know if that's directed to me but i think it is:1orglaugh
I work hard and i dont fuck around when I'm at work. Just recently the job became really boring and I was making mistakes because of lack of interest, not lack of hard work. This is why i quit i don't waste my time or anyone else's time. If I don't like what I'm doing my work will reflect it, so thats why i get out. Some people have to learn and adapt to the daily grind. They have to work wherever they can to make a buck regardless of the job. Not me. Now if I had a mortgage, kids, car payments and no income then I would stick it out no doubt. My car is paid off and i rent and no kids, and i have a source of steady income. The rest will come in time with hard work doing something i really enjoy.

Pay people a decent wage and treat them with respect. That will cure 99% of your labor problems.
