Before the dot.bomb they just plain hired you to do a job and would
wait for you to contact them and tell them it's ready. After the dot.bomb, and all the kiddies were offering services for less than minimum wage, clients want a friggin' play-by-play as your going. They don't want to pay anything for it and the keep using the word "just" a lot. Like "I just want the sales people to get all the current listings" and you say "Then you need to incorporate a database and that is going to be an entirely different cost than the agreement we have already started". Then they say "I don't want a database then I just want the sales people to see the old listings and the new listings as they come up". So it's not the code that's a bitch it's the clients. 1 out of 10 are normal but the rest treat you like your scamming them or something. If they say "just" then you tell them you "just" remembered your booked for the next millennium and to call back when the sun goes nova. |

all my keystrokes I don't give a shit if they change it every five minutes. The problem is most don't want to pay for the work you already did before they changed their minds. I watch a show on T.V. I don't know the name of it but it's one of those house improvement shows and a guy named Jim (really likable fella) gets in the same shit with his clients. They blueprint a design and the owners approve then the owners want changes and Jim and his Irish #1 man always get pissed because the client doesn't want to pay for the changes and they can't get it in their head why "extra items" cost "extra money. House builders and programmers have the same attitude clients. |
