Contacting Affiliates

Maybe it's a misinterpretation of the relationship I *think* a program should have with it's affiliates, but do you - as affiliates - absolutely not want to talk on the phone with your sponsor or others working in the adult industry?

It seems that anytime I make a phone call to talk with an affiliate that I've committed some offensive act.

Do you not want to be contacted via phone?

Rictor 04-04-2004 02:15 PM

I fucking hate being contacted by phone.

NaughtyJenn 04-04-2004 02:15 PM

i rather talk biz on the phone myself to be honest..

MrIzzz 04-04-2004 02:16 PM

i can't stand the phone

Steve 04-04-2004 02:17 PM

I prefer talking to typing any day of the week. But I work out of the home, so I need some warning.

I dont want anyone calling out of the blue.

detoxed 04-04-2004 02:18 PM

They dont want to talk on the phone unless they email and tell you or ICQ

polish_aristocrat 04-04-2004 02:18 PM

Not when the affiliate is from Europe and the sponsor rep. is stupid and wakes the affiliate in the middle of the night to ask if he could send some more traffic to that sponsor :1orglaugh :1orglaugh :1orglaugh

NaughtyJenn 04-04-2004 02:19 PM

well yeah i wouldnt call anyone out of the blue, but when it comes time for biz my line is open and make sure they are aware that im calling and that it is ok :)

tootie 04-04-2004 02:21 PM

I have mixed feelings about this. I've been called twice by sponsors and both times it annoyed the CRAP out of me. However I do appreciate the fact that they would take the time to contact me personally. I don't like it at all because I hate talking on the phone, but I can appreciate their effort in communicating on a personal level. I'd MUCH prefer to be contacted by e-mail, ICQ or even snail mail.

masta flash 04-04-2004 02:21 PM

Alot of sponsors want to call me for some reason. I'll do small talk over the phone or confirm a deal but I want all the real plans to be laid out online. Its provides me with a reference that I can go and read later on and its just alot easier for me to put it all together.

BradM 04-04-2004 02:23 PM

I find people are telemarketed enough. The last thing they want is to talk to a rep they don't know and take time out of their day to entertain their offers.

If they ask to talk I say yes. But telemarket them? No.

agree.. i wouldnt call someone unless it was something we needed to discuss..

slapass 04-04-2004 02:25 PM

I had a call on my answering machine form a sponsor with one of those adult names. "This is Joe from Teen Fucking, give me a call" Then absolutely do not call me. Do not leave your full name like that.

I agree, however I should have been more clear in my question. If there is a problem with the account, or a report of something not working correctly but the details and messenger contact information is left out - I'll pick up a phone.

IMHO much different then telemarketing since it's account and network related and involves no self promotion.

Yes, I agree with that.

Ic3m4nZ 04-04-2004 02:41 PM

I hate being contacting by phone too by sponsors unless they wanna give me something :thumbsup

boneprone 04-04-2004 02:43 PM

G Spot Shawn...

Hey bud..

Lets touch bases perhaps this week about that domain if we could.. Work something out perhaps?

I assigned someone in the family to take care of it, but perhaps he thought this was all just a game or something casue I havent heard anything..

Can you and I talk direct?? Maybe this week?

Or is this a closed issue?

Id like to move on and put all this behind us and start something on more solid ground.

buddyjuf 04-04-2004 02:48 PM

I also hate talking on the phone

:(

Don't just pick up the phone and call. Ask permission first

We can touch bases monday if you're free, LocalG gets back from AZ shortly so we can take it from there and come to a resolution.

yeah if theres a problem like that then by all means call them. but i dont want to get phone calls from any sponsors like "hey this is ____ from ____, i just wanted to call you to tell you we got all new hosted galleries up". the only sponsor that has ever called me was purcash and that was to verify and get my account activated. i didnt care that they called.

jayeff 04-04-2004 03:10 PM

I don't want to be sold to... that's just more useless bullshit. What with the hundreds of sponsors I'm signed up with mostly just to use their hosted galleries, jeez, if they all got into telemarketing, I would never get any work done.

What I would welcome is to more often be able to call the sponsor: and be able to get someone on the other end who could do more than just point you at the stuff you can already find on their site.

Maybe it's their approach to business as much as the practical help I have got from them. But the few sponsors who do work that way have always been among my best earners.

It's understandable that you wouldn't want profanity on your answering machine, or to be notified that hosted galleries are up - neither of which I do. Thanks for the feedback.

I should have been more specific when the original post was written, I was speaking moreso about contact regarding essential communication via phone.

Well, you can assume that if I'm willing to call you that you're more then welcome to call me regardless of the time or topic.

The few affiliates who have spoken with me often on the phone regarding their promotions are generally the ones who see the biggest improvements in ratios and revenue. So it's a two way street.

Cyborg 2.0 04-04-2004 03:45 PM

i don't really like phone... but in some cases its better to talk biz over phone

Peaches 04-04-2004 06:03 PM

I can get done via email or ICQ in 5 minutes what usually takes an hour to accomplish via the phone. Plus I can do other things while I'm emailing or IM'ing whereas my brain's not functional enough to talk on the phone and do other stuff. :(

I think it depends what you're calling for. If you call to say something like "Hey, you signed up for my affiliate program but haven't sent any traffic yet, ehat's going on?" then I think it might be better to not call, otherwise you sound like a pushy salesman. But if you call just to say thanks for sending good traffic and signups, then that is cool. :2 cents:

asuna 04-04-2004 06:13 PM

all my sponsors have my voice mail # only... they wanna talk to me, icq or email me

AOJ Brian 04-04-2004 06:15 PM

I prefer to do this kind of stuff through email or IM myself..
