Logo Contest: $500
Okay guys well heres the deelio on my logo competition. The logo is for PremiumGirls.co.uk - a London escort site I am designing. My client is happy with the design so far but has a major issue with the logo bit:
http://premiumgirls.co.uk/images/logo.gif They dont like it..... weird huh? Enter as many logos as you like but make sure to FOLLOW THE RULES: (1) The whole idea of "PremiumGirls" is an escort service for affluent, elite gentlemen who appreciate the finer things in life. The logo must give a distinct impression of quality through its appearance - perhaps more subconcious than immediately apparent. (2) It *MUST* be memorable and must fit within the section of logo I showed above - as that fits into the frame of the site (see the site). The above logo is 8k so because it is shown on all pages. The full size can be larger in high res but I do not want to see anything over 15k max for the one that fits on all pages. (3) You guys havent really been tested before. This is NOT a porn project so dont do anything porno, x rated, boastful, bright or outlandish.... the test for you will be aiming to show quality and yet remembering that designs are a bit more subtle in the UK. (4) This site is to be exceptional compared to my 100's of other designs so I dont want any predictable "3d fonts" or "signature" or "twirly hand writing" or "calligraphy" or "star shining at the corner of the letters". Nothing corny - geddit? (5) The web address (PremiumGirls.co.uk) *must* be the main thing about the logo. They must see and remember the address most of all and we dont want any www either. The address must be large and I would recommend using the current logo as guidance as its good (but obviously, not brilliant otherwise they'd be using it). (6) No animation and no flash. This is a web address and the primary objective is to have a logo which can fit at the top of the page as currently and yet also be used for inclusion on banners, image labels, print materials, etc. It must go well with the existing design. (7) Unless you have ultra solid grounds or can propose a better caption, the "creme de la creme London girls" bit should stay the same as it matches the international number on the other side (see site - PremiumGirls.co.uk). PRIZES: (1) Winner gets $350 (Paypal only). (2) Second place gets $100 (Paypal only). (3) Third place gets $50 (Paypal only). NOTICE: I have watched how confidence in these contests has collapsed in recent times and I am determined to restore trust. Firstly, this contest will be honoured no matter what. The three winners will be announced and posted on this thread as soon as I feel we have a winner or by April 20th 2004 at the latest. There *will* be three winners (GUARANTEED!) who will between them take the sum of $500. I may, if he/she hasnt done so already, ask the winner to make some extra sizes of his logo with some variations as well to add some spice to marketing materials. The two runners up should note that my client may also use their logos at some point in the future. I would also like to keep contact with the winners as I may wish to retain their services for future projects. If you have further questions post them on this thread which I will check at least twice daily or I can be contacted via email: vendot [at] aol.com |

Hey guys..... thanks for the entries. So far, I think the only remotely interesting ones are:
(1) One of the bottom ones in the collection of "JustFuckedMyself" with the PG and the line around it. (2) Second one of persius collection with the red to beige fading. These are the closest to stated aims but still "very much" short of the mark and I personally prefer my logo - its also a calculated guess to say that so would my client (although im going to show them all entries anyway). As for other entries, Ive got to say though that the twirly handwriting, girl in a circle, the girl replacing a letter, lipstick, showing woman or woman loving a man, interlocking letters, cocktail and some of the fonts are just too common place, corny logo styles and not quite what we're looking for though I appreciate you putting the logo into the background of the original and the site frame to help us visualise. This is not a site for cheap women you can pick up at your local K-mart (in the UK we might say Sainsburys). Remember guys, this logo must be superlative. It must be a memorable signature kind of a logo whilst making the viewer remember the name and web addy, so that when its on a banner it will be instantly recognisable. This thing should make a lasting impression and exude style - its got to be the logo I want to die on! These are NOT compulsory and are *just* some ideas for you: (1) Use of subtle faded textures. (2) Use of sophisticated original symbol. (3) Use of curves which remind the viewer of a woman (without showing one). (4) Use of some kind of "Eyes Wide Shut" mask incorporated into logo. (5) Use of some kind of gloss/textures denoting quality. (6) Use of subtle inference to aristocracy and high society. (7) Use of subtle reference to a London landmark such as london bridge. As I said, these are just some ideas and may not be ideal but I hope this will be some more useful feedback for you - food for thoughts. Come on guys. This is your time to shine ..... make it happen! |

vendot :)
I can see where you are coming from by running a logo competition, but why should I spend a chunk of my day working out a logo for someone on the off-change they'll use it and you will pay me? I'd get better odds on the Grand National. |
> why should I spend a chunk of my day working out a logo
> for someone on the off-change they'll use it? Please re-read my intial post. There *will* be three winners...... this is GUARANTEED! Course, I cannot guarantee that my client will like any of these logos, but one thing I can guarantee you is that the best three will win the prizes explained in the intial post - ie $500 in total. I hope you appreciate my sincerity on this matter and showcase your finest work.... keep 'em comin!! |
