Simpsons' charcter voices on strike
Someone tell these bastards to get back to work - they're holding up my favourite show!
"The actors who provide the voices for The Simpsons have gone on strike for more money. The six actors have not shown up for two script readings, holding up production on the 16th season. Reportedly each wants about £200,000 an episode, instead of the £70,000 they are currently paid. Their three-year contracts ran out months ago and their agents have been trying to negotiate new ones but without success. " |
posted last week, Bit egotistical asking for $200k just for speaking into a microphone

it's a shit load of money considering that after 15 full season's there is enough voice provided already to just splice and recreate anything they need those characters to say - I think they are pushing the line a bit |

70k/ episode for voice acting is crazy.. let alone 200k.. like said above.. they are lucky to have work with all the audio they'd have in stock from other episodes.. not to mention the hundreds of people that can do the voices just as well.
|
damn i thought one person did all the voices lol

Do you know how many billions merchandising brings in???
They just want a cut of that. I say give it to them:thumbsup |

They have already done that during the last 'strike' that they had to go on in order to get the pay they are getting. I think the article I read the other day said they originally were paid like 18k per episode. Something alot of you don't think of when you hear large salaries for these shows... they have to provide their own transportation and they might be in NYC doing something and get the call that something has to be redone etc etc or added to... that sort of thing. I'd hate to see their travel expenses each year. It runs locally twice in the afternoon... they had one of the episodes on with the different people doing the voices the other day, and even *I* noticed it. And I do my level best to ignore the show. lol Homer's voice was about 3 octaves deeper. rotfl His was the most noticeable. |
Thank you, come again!
|
either way, they're still being over paid.

Damn some of you people. |
To put this in perspective - Friends is less popular worldwide, has had less episodes, and earns a fraction of what The Simpsons does in merchandising.
The main cast of Friends were earning $1million per episode... is it any wonder the cast of The Simpsons want more d'oh? |

How many episodes per season?
|
well this could also explain why its taking them another 6 years to do the Simpsons movie, its expected to be released in 2010!!!! Matt Groening is filthy rich but i question his character.
|
cheap bastards:(
|
They are worth more than 200k in my opinion.... I mean, 16th season here. They're a franchise, they're legends.
They are worth every penny and more. |

200k$ PER EPISODE !!! That's 8M$ / season ! |
I'll do it it for 50K per episode, and I'll even do it nude if they really want me to
|
There are 40 episodes in a season?!! I thought a season would be 15-20 episodes.
|
Cameron Diaz is getting 10 MIL for Shrek 2.
