I used to know a stripper up there but I lost her number years ago. She was crazy anyway so it's probably best. :glugglug |
Checking my records... I have no application from you to immigrate to our area. Please forward the $500 per person fee and applications immediatly to prevent your being disallowed in this area! Non possession of the correct paperwork will result in the honorable Mayor, his highness, Michael Coleman, locking you up for the mandatory 15 yrs and the seizure of all your goods.
270 and 70 cross in 2 places... which is it?! East or West? Suburb name? 270 and 71 cross in 2 places 33 and 270 cross in 2 places 315 and 270 cross in 2 places What do we gather from this information?! 270 is a CIRCLE! lol :winkwink: People here WILL call you on that if you aren't more specific. Columbus isn't called Cow Town for nothing... small things get picked apart from sheer boredom. lmao :1orglaugh Just fyi, *if* ANY local cop tells you to do something... trust me, you WANT to do it if you don't want to pass blood for a week. |
If he's talking the East side, dublin isn't a smart place to try to go. Its about 25-30 miles via the outerbelt, takes about 45 minutes or more (our freeway cops are very proud of their job ya'see) AND they are again working the north leg of 270 doing stuff... Dublin would-could be 2-3 hrs that way. lol
If you are East, Eastland Mall on South Hamilton road is the hot spot to find most all things in one cluster. Food, flicks, shopping. East side, take 270 North pass thru the Gahanna area and go to the Easton exit. Newest and hottest shopping etc in the Columbus Area. Everything you can imagine is located in that general area. Gahanna poilces the freeway like all the other suburbs and they are pert serious about the numbers on the speed limit signs. http://www.nbc4columbus.com , http://www.wsyx6.com can be a starting point for you. They have links to the jillion other columbus sites. |
i'm from michigan, and most of ohio is just as sucky... my advice is to cancel your move, and find a different landing spot
|
is eastland the place with the gameworks?

i live in ohio... i can tell you, we don't have one of the highest suicide rates for nothing. always overcast, nothing here in terms of oppurtunity.. its a wasteland. don't move to ohio. |
osu girls are slutty
|
I think there are a couple of gamerworks places but I don't know where they are. We don't do games. ;-)
Don't let them fool you... Columbus is one of the top tech centers in the country. All the big banks and several insurance companies have main headquarters here as well as many other companies. Our unemployment rate is normally several points under the country average and this is one of the few places these large companies will take entry level positions to most jobs. Unlike say NYC where you MUST have experience for most positions or start in the mail room. I imagine its partially due to the colleges etc located in this area. And yeah the weather CAN s*ck but we have our fair share of good weather. Now if you want to live in a s*ckhole, move to Cleveland or Cincy. One measures their winter snowfall in FEET not inches and the other is one of the worst blue law cities in the country. lol Our suicide rate is NOT high either. Neither is the murder or crime rate. |

However, when I visted last year I did notice one thing: the traffic cops out on I-270 have got to be the most efficent government employees I have ever seen in my entire fucking life. I got a speeding ticket and three seatbelt citations while I was down there. Bastards. |
Dayton Ohio is better.. cuzz its closer to me and I need another drinkin buddy :glugglug
|
They're getting ready to put anti-crossover cables in the median all along the west side of the belt... you wanna see cops and tickets?? Wait til those orange barrels go out. lmao THEN they get serious about speed... if it says 35 or 40, stay under it. Shouldn't be as bad as other kinds of work they do but they will have a lane closed no doubt.
That section of 270 is THE worse for wrecks due to speeders so keep your eye open. It's also some of the slickest in the Winter... too much open area and the wind sweeps it into a glaze. And Hilliard? rotfl There cops are tyrants compared to the freeway patrol. Its not a bad area really. They do have breakins since so many there work days. And the traffic can get pert heavy at rush hour. They are way behind on updating the roads but are catching up. We're about 6 miles from there. Electric goes out over there more so than the rest of the city since it has so many older wires and takes the brunt of the heavy storms. Closest food etc to you is straight south on Rome Hilliard road. A couple of good sized shopping centers and restaurants. 70 is just south of the shopping area there. Straight up Olentangy River Rd gets you to Dublin, There cops can get nasty as well. Dublin thinks its the rich part of town. lol |

270/70 area SUCKS.. most of the exits around there are giant overly evolved truckstops with trailer trash that graduated from their trailer parks to get their ranch houses.
should move out North/Northwest. |

how would you know? |
Hmm... if you're between the ages of 18-24 or in college it's fine... if you're older and already graduated, move somewhere else
|
I have a honey that lives in Oberlin.
Hit me up. . . I'll see what I can do.:) |

I second that, but if you do have to move there some good places to go are... The Polaris Mall-it's huge (for Ohio at least) and has tons of stuff to do. Polaris is also a place where there's a lot of good concerts all the time. High Street has a bunch of little shops also. There's a lot of bars, hippie shops and vintage shops. The German Village has a really good place to eat with huge Cream Puffs (they're the shit!:thumbsup ) I think Ohio is just a really crappy state to live in, but Columbus at least has shit to do. |
You misunderstood Syn... they are cabling the whole length of the median... the emergency crossover lanes will be left open but there will be miles of the median that need cabled off. There has been 3 (that come to mind without thinking hard) times in the last 2 yrs where cars have gone across the median and headon into the oncoming traffic. One just the other day.
Too many deaths... but back in the late 60's early 70's that was the common method of building freeways. Wide open grass. They're doing 315 up on the North side too. You'll see how crazy those fools from the NORTHWEST part of town act when they get behind the wheel... coffee in one hand and their cell in the other, add 80mph and stir. If you wanted to live with the rich folks, ignore gleem. The really rich people live East of Gahanna or up around New Albany now. lol Dublin, Worthington and Powell are full of pain in the tail aging yuppies that THINK they have alot of money when it all translates to lots of credit. rotfl I think the 40+ yrs I have lived in and around Columbus gives me some leeway to say I know the area. ;-) Add in my old man and we're well over 80 yrs combined knowledge. lol Be careful if you head due west into the country from Hilliard... the roads do some mighty strange things out there. :D All angled and its easy to get twisted around. What part of town are you going to be working in? |

That's where I'm from too. |
Good news is they caught the highway shooter that was plagueing that area :thumbsup
Happy driving again for all! |

Why would he give a fuck where the rich folk live? Upper middle class is where it's at, cause you can move in and rule the block with your porn money, no sense in going up against the Nationwide or other big company big wigs :thumbsup |

The old Prison is gone Veterans Day. :( They built yet another stadium thing there and a bunch of other stuff. First they couldn't get a stadium venue to save them, now they have about 3 or 4 al over Columbus. It would have been nice to see the prison cleaned up and used as a tourist attraction. It was built by Southron Prisoners from Camp Chase out on W. Broad (Its still there, preserved) and the prison had literal;y miles of tunnels under the city every which way. The prisoners used to be marched thru them to clean all sorts of buildings at night etc.
The Polaris Concert place was bought by a car dealer and renamed (after him of course lol). Alot of concerts aare held at Nationwide Center or whatever their stadium is called. lol (Where the BlueJackets play) Well used to, last word the other day is, they are locked out for non-payment of their lease rights. Sorry gleem... I never had any desire to lord 'it' over anyone. Especially wannabe rich folks in Worthington/Dublin/Powell etc etc. I just dislike that area's people... intensely. Gahanna itse;f is nice too. The people are more down to Earth. Make sure to check out Eastons shopping tho Syn. Its all that Polaris has but with cheaper prices. ;-) |
OK< thanks all for your suggestions... will have to check some of this shit out.
