They should cure themselves first of intolerance and ignorance before dispensing out cures for homosexuality.

AvanteGuard 04-03-2004 06:49 PM

Hey a lotta people say that homosexuality is a "gene" or its not their "choice" they're "born that way". I disagree, it's a choice in my oppinion ... but it's a free world, it's a choice someone should be able to make without getting a buncha crap for it. :2 cents:

Sexuality is a bell curve like everything else.

10% far left, 10% far right, 60% average.

Of course some people are just born 100% gay. Some people are
born 100% hetero.

However I personally believe that the 80's and womens lib have
effectively been "marketing" for "gayness". Probably not a
popular point of view, however I'm sure there are many people
that are homosexual that only find themselves on that side of the
street due to circumstance and peer situations. Everyone wants
to be a part of something and gay culture is sure to make you
feel pretty "special".

Lets face it... Gay has become "cool" over the last 20 years.

Think about this... How many gay men talk with a lisp because it's
how they have always been and how many talk that way to
show that they are gay and proud?

As Frank Zappa puts it....

Hi, folks! Nice to be here!

THING-FISH:
I's sure dere be lotsa folks like to know what yo' plans are...how
y'intend t'be gwine about dis uncredibly serious bidniss o'
GROWIN' UP IN ERMERICA!

HARRY-AS-A-BOY:
Well, I plan on making a few mistakes, having my heart broken
and so forth, using all kinds of drugs, and turning gay as soon as
possible in order to accelerate my rise to the 'top of the heap'.

THING-FISH:
Ahh! Tremenjous, HARRY-AS-A-BOY, simply tre- MENJOUS! You
practicin' up fo it wit anyhahahaha in po-ticlar now?

HARRY-AS-A-BOY:
I can't afford to study with anyone yet, since the bulk of my
allowance goes for glue and Grateful Dead tickets, but soon I
hope to be on my knees in a REAL HOMO BATH HOUSE...maybe
when my folks go on vacation.

THING-FISH:
Ain't you de clever one! Tell us, HARRY-AS-A-BOY, howdja recide
upon dis heah life-style bein' DE ONE FO YOU?

HARRY-AS-A-BOY:
It was pretty simple, really. I lost all desire for intercourse with
females when they started carrying those briefcases and wearing
suits 'n ties.

RHONDA:
WHAT?

HARRY-AS-A-BOY:
Let's face it: that would be like fucking a slightly more voluptuous
version of somehahahaha's father! I'm far too sensitive for such a
traumatic experience!

THING-FISH:
You means DE WOMENS' LIBROMATION MOVENINT done created
de uncontrollable urgement to play dingle-dangle-dingle wit de
personal requipment of yo own gender?

HARRY-AS-A-BOY:
To a degree...I mean...look, I'm not stupid! I know it's all a
thoroughly workable government- sponsored program to control
the Population Explosion, and, just like every other AMERICAN,
I'm too concerned with MY OWN personal health and well being
to think of devoting any of MY precious time to something as
boring as 'REPRODUCTION'!

RHONDA:
HARRY, I used to think you were merely an OVER- EDUCATED
SHIT-HEAD, but now that I finally have proof, it's going to give me
GREAT PLEASURE to refer to you as an OVER-EDUCATED
COCKSUCKER!

HARRY:
Well, to be honest with you, dearest, I sort of ...gulp, gulp...

One of the dumbest statements I've ever read about what makes a person gay.

It's hysterical reading straight guys' posts about why a guy is gay! :1orglaugh

mryellow 04-03-2004 10:05 PM

Show me one single film clip from the 80's that doesn't have
something really gay in it. LOTS of kids were drawn towards
this world from sitting up late watching video hits.

Everyone wants to be a part of something, there are straight gay
guys, bi gay guys, and gay gay guys. Some were born that way,
some just don't care either way, and some just didn't have any
friends.

Call it the dumbest statement ever.... Just because it's not what
made you gay doesn't mean it didn't influence other people. You
can say whatever you like but the fact is that culture over the last
20 years has made it much more acceptable to be gay. Many
people have decided this is the world for them, not based on any
genetic disposition but simply for social reasons.

It may not be the case for you.... but there is no doubt it is the
case for many others.

i dont know about it being genes or choice but i was watching a hahahahahahahahaary on HBO and there was several young kids like 11 or so that said they were gay, now why would they choose to have such a hard childhood, the kids in their schools harrassed the hell out of them to the point one girl gets out early to get a ride home from mom so she doesnt have to walk down the hall with the rest of the kids and gets out of class early to go to the next class and stand by the door to be the first in, to me no one should choose that kind of childhood

Gay men have a higher-than-average income level and consumer loyalty rating too, apparently.

So at some point you chose to like women or men? I don't remember ever making a choice. I just got a boner from looking at girls. I didn't CHOOSE to get a boner from looking at girls.

I'm sure guys that get a boner from looking at guys aren't choosing it. It's just how their brain is wired.

mryellow 04-03-2004 10:25 PM

Not like I'm an authority so I won't go on too much.... but just
thought of some stuff to add.

My point is that for some guys they are hard wired in that 10% of
the bell curve. There are other gay men which could go either
way and have made a choice which way they prefer. This whole
choice/nature debate is flawed because for some it's choice while
others it's nature.

Back to the peer/social factor....

Why do kids join gangs which ruin their lives?

Mainly to be a part of something bigger than themselves.

What's that? You say peer pressure never has anything to do
with anything? That no one has ever decided to follow a gay
lifestyle because of social factors? No one ever?

Try to get a young smoker to admit they started smoking
because of peers.

"There is no such thing as a homosexual," the chief speaker, a clinical psychologist called Dr Joseph Nicolosi, assures his audience. "Everyone is heterosexual. Some of you may have a homosexual problem. But you are still a heterosexual. 'Homosexual' is simply a description of a psychological disorder, prompted by an inner sense of emptiness. This," he reminds them, "by the way, is non-religious, non-political information. This is scientific information."

bopha 04-04-2004 10:19 AM

Being gay may not be a "choice" but wearing short- shorts and work boots is.

alias 04-04-2004 10:31 AM

His clients are encouraged to form healthy friendships with straight men, take vigorous physical exercise and use manly vocabulary such as "dude".
