The line of jeffersons quote that was NOT added to the jefferson memorial.

The inscription around the top of the rotunda
is the immortal Jefferson quote, "I have sworn upon the altar of God,
eternal hostility against every form of tyranny over the mind of man."

The last part of the quote was left off.

"That is why the clergy oppose me.""
