Am I getting my ass ripped off on tax prep?

$700 for both personal/family and corporate return preparation and advice....

I've never gone to a professional before, but I figure its high time. Yes, I know its 2 weeks before the deadline...

Anyway, am I getting ripped off?
What do you guys pay?

I'm talking to the people who actually have companies and make money, so :2 cents: sigwhores and peanut gallery STFU.

Thanks.

No man, that's not steep at all if they are doing both your personal as well as corp.

Trixie Racer 04-02-2004 09:59 AM

Good deal. :thumbsup

My accountant charges $500 just for corp.

Sweet !!! Good to hear guys...thanks.

He is saying that he is cutting me a great deal and that he normally does $500 minimum for personal and $500 for corporate, but he is doing both for $700. (He is trying to get all my financial planning and investing business...)

I assumed he was probably full of shit and was ripping me off but telling me he was giving me a bargain... :1orglaugh
Guess I've been to too many shady mechanics lately.

Thanx for the info. :glugglug

Definitely. Thats the only reason I'm doing this. :) Otherwise I prefer to be more in direct control of everything.

Also its not just money that I'm saving, but frustration, anxiety, and most of all TIME. Time IS money.

if it's a good CPA, that's CHEAP.
i pay $600 for personal and $800 per business, but he's saved me a lot more than that over the course of the year by helping me structure everything right...

1 of my best friends from childhood is a CPA

He does my taxes free,,,i give him free porn he can use.

It's a win win situation.

Plus,,,when we go to atlantic city,,i get to write everytthing off if he comes as my guest:thumbsup

You are doing good if he is worth a shit.

I don't pay... hell, I'm a CPA and that would make no sense.

$500 for personal seems pricey. I can do most people's personal taxes in about 10 minutes. I would think an accountant would be able to do it even faster. Of course, that's assuming you just have a couple W2s and a list of your deductions ready.

As for the coporate stuff, you always pay out the ass for that.
