Work and vacations. How do you juggle with them?
 

Personally, since I'm working in porn biz, I never took real vacations. The real firsts, maybe for the next Vegas meeting in january (2 weeks really off) or an august break if I'm tired (no more than 2 weeks).
And every time I have to leave the computer for few days, it's a terrible headache. I'm still checking mail, looking at my stats, reading boards... Things I can't do when I'm leaving !
I'm thinking about taking the laptop and the cell phone ( modem included ) with me, but it won't be real vacations if I begin to work during this 2 weeks.
But in a other hand, 2 weeks without a minimum maintains for the sites is risked.
So how do you do for vacations ? Do you simply move your office to the vacations place ;) or do you hire somebody to take care about your biz ?

ps: I guess it's easier if your company comprise many workers... You can leave and give your work to trust peeps easier.

I take the laptop with me and try to do only 1 hour max/day of work. My vacation is payed doing this 1 hour/day:thumbsup

I try to find some way to have time with my family.

I whish I could do 1 hour a day to pay my vacations :) I usually need more than this hour... So vacations and laptop won't be so cool than you. heh

i dont need vacation - I do sweet FA already!

Get someone else to do your TASKS....
Try getting a dedicated webmaster or designer from ME..

it all depends what you do really. take the laptop with u if u only need to check mails and do a small amount of work to keep things flowing ;)

haha yeah that's a solution... but you'd better have somebody who's able to manage 200k sites. Cuz if I'm back from vacations with a 500 uniques site, I will sue you during all your life ! :)
I know I can ask some experimented MGP webmasters. But since they're doing enough cash from their sites, I don't see any reason for them to manage mine.

Try the west indies :) Vacations in Guadeloupe are unforgettable... Maybe as Cancun in Mexico :thumbsup

HAHA Well I would love to buddy but unfortunately its my best friends birthday. She is turning 21 and we celebrate pretty hard on our 21st Birthday. I won't be able to make it over, her boyfriend (who is my best friend) would kick my ass so hard I wouldn't be able to sit on the plane anyway!

If all goes well and I can get over tho for Queens day then you bet your ass I will be there, but I'm not promising anything :P

take the laptop and just check like once a day to make sure things are still ok, then enjoy your time, no need to work the whole time but you cant let the money maker break! lol enjoy your vacation when you get to go

yup, break seems to be a good idea... I will take the laptop to check and pick up 2 or 3 phone numbers to contact in emergency cases. sounds good !

I try to automate my sites as much as possible so that when I am a way I will just need a few minutes a day or so to check so that things are runing smoothly..

But I when I travel somewhere I always have my laptop and cellphone with me with numbers to a few friends that I know I can count on to help me out if I run in to something.. :)

Just get some ask a couple of your friends to if they are able to have a eye on your stuff for you just for a couple of days..

This is a though issue indeed.. :/

thanks for the issues guys ! Laptop + friends sounds to be a perfect combo to maintain all the work correctly.
I never thought it will be so hard to take some vacations b4 working in the Xbiz... it's more than a job !
