Kerry Dips Into Clinton's Bag Of Tricks

'I'm fascinated by Rap and Hip-Hop' says Democratic presidential candidate, John Kerry during an MTV Choose or Loose forum. Offering up a heavy dose of street credibility, Kerry defended gangsta rap, freedom of speech and the realities of street life."

Pandering at it's finest. :1orglaugh

He's stooped way too low already for me to vote for him.

I can't imagine having a President that threw his Military Honors away to denounce his government.

Maybe he'll try again in 2008 - he can be Hillary's running mate.

It's a fairly smart tactic, but could backfire if his sincerity is questioned. Despite recent changes, most young voters are still liberal in nature. Like with the blacks, the Dems have learned to depend on the "Rock The Vote" MTV crowd.

getting elected is all about pandering....

whether it's to the MTV crowd or the old folks

Screaming 03-31-2004 12:19 PM

well he has got to get as many votes as he can, what better way then to defend what others are bashing, you get that whole group on your side

Yeah, but this appears really phony - even to most of us GFYers.

Imagine if Bush did that. The press would have a field day. The Dems get a free pass of course.

Babaganoosh 03-31-2004 12:51 PM

Someone needs to do the Kerry version of asking Bush to name the heads of state for the following countries...

I could see this backfiring in Kerry's face if he can't name 10 rap or hip-hop stars or for that matter, any of their songs. :thumbsup

hottoddy 03-31-2004 01:44 PM

Kerry defends Gangsta Rap but also states at the same time that he does not approve of many of the lyrics used in rap songs, and suggests they tone them down.

Kerry on both sides of an issue. Shocking.

From a political standpoint, it would be far better for him to just say, "look this is an issue of free speech. Its not the government's place to try to tell someone what they can and can't say." Instead he attempts to play to both sides. Typical.
