AOL Has stooped to a new low!
I wake up this morning and go outside to get my newspaper. I pick it up (It's in a plastic bag to keep it safe from the elements). Anyways, I bring it in and low and behold guess what's inside? You guessed it - a fucking AOL CD.
This wasn't just stuffed in the bag with the paper. It was in it's own hot sealed compartment in the bag. I'm not saure if this is common practice where you live, but a definite first for me. AOL will do anything to get subscribers to their crappy service. :1orglaugh |
I get like 3-4 cd's a month of that shit, i wonder how many copies they send out every month.
They've got cashiers dropping them into bags as people check out at the grocery store that I go to.

I would love to see some artwork made from AOL cds.. Like a pyramid of cds on fire!
AOL is giving away a porche that was repo'd from a spammer! I dunno where the link is now, but I signed up =)

I think you get like $25 per aol customer you refer....
It must be working for them. Otherwise, why waste the money?
Cup coasters are always handy:)
AOL cd's make great coffee coasters and projectiles for neighbour hood dogs that piss on my lawn.
Fuck aol. Those fuckers suck.
i put my aol cd's on the dart board, now that's fun

That's probably why they had a record loss of a 100 billion dollar in 2002. |
i wonder if one could acuse aol of spamming, i have called aol multiple times and told them to stop sending me discs but it never ends.

they did it here in NY once with the NY post...i went to buy it like i do every morning and when i was gonna pay they told me it was "free" sponsored by aol, and yes it had the damn CD inside..
fuck AOL, its a company made up of noobs for noobs. I always get those damn CDS.
i remember reading on wired about some guys who are collecting the cds, people are sending them in from all over the world, and when they have enough they are going to take them (in a truck) to aol headquarters and give them all back
Its ok to for aol to spam the shit with their cds wasting natural resources
but to spam aol is a no no :321GFY there is a couple of sites which collect aol cds... u can add to their collection |
I think I have an AOL 3.5'' disk somewhere...
The one that torques me is the little standup display giving away AOL CDs at US Post Office branches these days. Guess that's where they're saving the extra discs that they didn't junkmail me... but hell, if I'm already paying taxes and increasingly-silly amounts in postage, can't I *please* not get ad-bombed when I want into the gawddamn Post Office??!?!? :feels-hot
i should start sending out cd's like aol does except with sample videos, i wonder how many hits my site would get :1orglaugh
i wish i had been collecting all these random aol disks over the years..
i've seen all versions come and go in 1000 different packages.. i got this one that came in a dvd-type case.. with this shiny metallic cover.. :glugglug |

The grocery store and the post office all get paid if someone signs up using one of those CDs. So who is to blame for those, AOL or the companies who order the CDs from AOL to give away? When comparing what they do to spam, it may be, but none of CDs has sent me a virus, or offered my 14 year old daughter to enlarge her penis..... |
At least when they used floppies, you could make use of them.
Maybe we need a law demanding they use rewritable CDs? :rasta |
in my eyes, aol is a virus. it fucked up my computer and crippled my internet connection :1orglaugh
Superglue them to a 2 x 4 and take them to the range, sure beats shooting paper targets. :ak47:
Just the original spam, junk mail, that litters our real mail boxes every day. I bet those AOL exec's have some nice Porches that could be seized.
dude I love when they send the DVD style cases in the mail... I use them when I burn DVDs :1orglaugh
but I'd love to know what AOL advertising budget is.. |
Collect all the CDs they send you and mail them straight back to AOL.
If I'm really bored one day, I'm gonna go down to the post office, buy a stack of address labels, a stack of stamps, grab the pile of AOL CDs next to the counter and mail them to random AOL-related addresses. |
AOL, now with 1500 free hours for the first month.

Blame your newspaper for being an AOL affiliate. They are the ones who put that CD in there. Not AOL.
Yea, I hate getting all of those AOL cds. When I go into a store that has a box full of them for customers to take, I grab as many as I can and walk out with them and throw them away.
I look at it as taking away CD's that might have fallen into the wrong hands. |
AOL and their CDs remind me off CNN and their pop-ups.

Its madness
next they'll put remote controls on them and pop em into our computers while were sleeping
seems they have more money then sense, i mean people know about aol and we dont need a daily reminder that it is available to us, must cost a fortune in cds

She'd just laugh at you pencil dick. |
I think they realize how many discs they send out, hence the self jab commercial with the people making wall art from all their discs. That's bad when you have to make fun of yourself and that it's totally true.
wow..newspapers and grocery bags now?? LOL
i see them everywhere sitting on counters with a "Take One" sign. and i still get those fuckin things every month. making a coaster collection out of them :thumbsup |
Trust they send out enough to justify their next price increase!

aol sucks
Oops. I gotta read more often.
I get the CDs in my sunday paper at least twice a month.
