Is there any way to get off a spammers list?
 

i've hit remove buttons - i get more spam so don't tell me you fucking assholes honor your removes...sure YOU do but you sell those fucking names to others.

how do I get people to STOP spamming me?

hitting remove links is like saying "yes I want more spam"

There is no way ... try spam blocker softwares they block most . Or get a AOL email account it works well too

its not possible... for every 10 spammers that actually pay attention to removes theres another 15 or 20 that just throw a remove link in there to verify valid emails and to give the appearance of propriety

there is no way I think, I installed a bunch of spam filters but they are worthless for an adult webmaster, because we receive from time to time e-mails with words "hardcore, sex, adult...etc..." that is not spam, but filters removes them...

And I'm surprised that you (with your experience) click on remove buttons, that's like saying I'm alive and I open your spam so send me more.

maybe if thay start to take charge for every e-mail we send, like $0.01 per e-mail spammers will have to give up.

I have filters installed on the server's mail program and they don't filter adult stuff ... It's meraks or something like that . There is an option for that

m$ has plan to that ... they will make the spammer pay per email or something like that . And the user receiving them will get a check for receiving them .

lots have been telling me about it. I've been worried I'd loose emails due to it but on YOUR advise I think I'll try and install it after phoenix.

Client side filtering is about the only option in dealing with spam that wont cause problems for people trying to mail you legitimate stuff.

I hear what you're saying about filters, but thats mostly because some come preprogrammed with lists that would include keywords that dont really fit with the adult webmaster line of work.

The kind of filter that you train with real junk e-mails, so it learns what YOUR real email and junk keywords are would probably work quite well, possibly too much hassle though.

You will always get spam :)

I'm getting like 7,000 spams a day now. This is how I deal:

1. I change my email address every 6 months. I keep the current email address and the last email address in my "inbox" filter. filter all email that does not match one of those addresses to the spam bin.

2. Presort to trash anything with subjects containing "viagra" etc. Presort to Inbox any opt-in email I subscribed to.

3. Presort to trash any email address I no longer use.

4. No mailto: links on the site. Use a script that keeps the e off the HTML. This script emails to it's own special address which is filtered to Inbox. This catches ALL new business very well.

I'm sure I lose something once in a while, but it is very effective. Almost no spam in my Inbox.

I hear that there is a new way that you are opting in to the lists it is if they see that you opened the email that you are opting in again ...

Not that i know anyting about that but it is only what i hear on the grapevine Sleazy ... though i have found that if you are using outlook 2004 it is really good at stopping annoying spam not all of it but a good portion of it ..

Find out who they are or wich product / company they are promoting and start sending these 5Mb message like crazy. Works for me. I have one server dedicated to that shit. Fuck em.

Check with your host they may offer SpamAssassin and/or email filtering which will allow you to discard the SPAM or send it to SPAM box for later review. Works great and I don't need to buy any other software. I can even set my email filters to delete them too.

Easy trick; many spammers have a do-not-send list of keywords they exclude because they don't want to send spam to anti-spam companies. Including the word nospam in your email address such as [email protected] will cut a lot of the spam. Programs like SpamArrest is the next best thing as well and local server versions are available/around.
