Best song at the bar for "last song of the night" is....
I say it's "What's going on?" by 4 Non blondes.
If you haven't been out at a bar at 2 am and heard this song close out the night, you don't know shit from toothpaste brotha. Drunk tired horny people go crazy for this tune... 25 years of my life and still I'm trying to get up that great big hill of hope for a destination I realized quickly when I knew I should that the world was made up of this brotherhood of man for whatever that means And so I cry sometimes when I'm lying in bed to get it all out what's in my head then I I am feeling a little peculiar And so I wake in the morning and I step outside and I take deep breath and I get real high then I scream from the top of my lungs what's goin' on and I say hey... hey... I say hey, what's goin' on and I say hey... hey... I said hey, what's goin' on Oh, oooh... Oh, oooh... and I try, oh my God do I try I try all the time in this institution and I pray, oh my God do I pray I pray every single day for a revolution and so I cry sometimes when I'm lying in my bed just to get it all out what's in my head then I I am feeling a little peculiar and so I wake in the morning and I step outside and I take a deep breath then I get real high then I scream from the top of my lungs what's goin' on and I say hey... hey... I say hey, what's goin' on and I say hey... hey... I said hey, what's goin' on and I say hey... hey... I say hey, what's goin' on and I say hey... hey... I said hey, what's goin' on Oh, oooh, oooh... 25 years of my life and still I'm trying to get up that great big hill of hope for a destination What's your end of the night tune? |

Ya ya... getting ICQ'd now with someone saying "Stairway to heaven"
man, that's so junior high for me. Still a good tune to close down the bar with though. |
Well, for the bar owner/employees that want to clear the place so they can close up and go home The Macarana works wonders. hehehe

Khe Sahn by Cold Chisel
Its the unofficial Australian Anthem and since lot of you here won't have heard it here's the words: left my heart to the sappers round Khe Sanh And my soul was sold with my cigarettes to the blackmarket man I've had the Vietnam cold turkey From the ocean to the Silver City And it's only other vets could understand About the long forgotten dockside guarantees How there were no V-dayheroes in 1973 How we sailed into Sydney Harbour Saw an old friend but couldn't kiss her She was lined, and I was home to the lucky land And she was like so many more from that time on Their lives were all so empty, till they found their chosen one And their legs were often open But their minds were always closed And their hearts were held in fast suburban chains And the legal pads were yellow, hours long, paypacket lean And the telex writers clattered where the gunships once had been But the car parks made me jumpy And I never stopped the dreams Or the growing need for speed and novacaine So I worked across the country end to end Tried to find a place to settle down, where my mixed up life could mend Held a job on an oil-rig Flying choppers when I could But the nightlife nearly drove me round the bend And I've travelled round the world from year to year And each one found me aimless, one more year the more for wear And I've been back to South East Asia But the answer sure ain't there But I'm drifting north, to check things out again You know the last plane out of Sydney's almost gone Only seven flying hours, and I'll be landing in Hong Kong There ain't nothing like the kisses From a jaded Chinese princess I'm gonna hit some Hong Kong mattress all night long Well the last plane out of Sydney's almost gone Yeah the last plane out of Sydney's almost gone And it's really got me worried I'm goin' nowhere and I'm in a hurry And the last plane out of Sydney's almost gone |

with out a fucking doubt
Closing time, open all the doors And let you out into the world Closing time, turn all of the lights on Over every boy and every girl Closing time, one last call for alcohol So finish your whiskey or beer Closing time, you don?t have to go home But you can?t stay here I know who I want to take me home, I know who I want to take me home, I know who I want to take me home, Take me home Closing time, time for you to go out To the places you will be from Closing time, this room won?t be open Till your brothers or your sisters come So gather up your jackets, move it to the exits I hope you have found a friend Closing time, every new beginning Comes from some other beginning?s end I know who I want to take me home, I know who I want to take me home, I know who I want to take me home, Take me home Closing time, time for you to go out To the places you will be from I know who I want to take me home, I know who I want to take me home, I know who I want to take me home, Take me home Closing time, every new beginning Comes from some other beginning?s end |

I WAS ONLY NINETEEN - REDGUM
Mum and Dad and Denny saw the passing out parade at Puckapunyal (1t was long march from cadets). The sixth battalion was the next to tour and It was me who drew the card. We did Canungra and Shoalwater before we left. Chorus I: And Townsville lined the footpath as we marched down to the quay. This clipping from the paper shows us young and strong and clean. And there's me in my slouch hat with my SLR and greens. God help me, I was only nineteen. From Vung Tau riding Chinooks to the dust at Nui Dat, I'd been in and out of choppers now for months. But we made our tents a home. V.B. and pinups on the lockers, And an Asian orange sunset through the scrub. Chorus 2: And can you tell me, doctor, why I still can't get to sleep? And night time's just a jungle dark and a barking M.16? And what's this rash that comes and goes, can you tell me what it means? God help me, I was only nineteen. A four week operation, when each step can mean your last one On two legs: it was a war within yourself. But you wouldn't let your mates down 'til they had you dusted off, So you closed your eyes and thought about something else. Chorus 3: Then someone yelled out "Contact"', and the bloke behind me swore. We hooked in there for hours, then a God almighty roar. Frankie kicked a mine the day that mankind kicked the moon. God help me, he was going home in June. 1 can still see Frankie, drinking tinnies in the Grand Hotel On a thirty-six hour rec. leave in Vung Tau. And I can still hear Frankie, lying screaming in the jungle. 'Till the morphine came and killed the bloody row Chorus 4: And the Anzac legends didn't mention mud and blood and tears. And stories that my father told me never seemed quite real I caught some pieces In my back that I didn't even feel. God help me, I was only nineteen. Chorus 5: And can you tell me, doctor, why I still can't get to sleep? And why the Channel Seven chopper chills me to my feet? And what's this rash that comes and goes, can you tell me what it means? God help me, I was only nineteen. This song was written in the 70's, by a bloke called John Schuman and performed by him in a band called "Redgum". It became a national hit espcecially among Veterans almost imediately. It is still performed today whenever Vietnam Vets get together for a concert. Royalties from sales were donated to the Vietnam Veterans Association of Australia. Just a few things that may help you understand the lyrics better. Puckapunyal was a recruit training center and Cunungra is a Jungle Warfare training center. Shoalwater was a place that the Army used for Military excercises. The SLR was the personal weapon mostly used in Vietnam. Vung Tau & Nui Dat were Aussie bases in Vietnam. V.B. is Victorian Bitter a very popular Aussie beer. Anzac is the acronym for the Australian & New Zealand Army Corps |

Cool...not very good with finding mp3s so I found a midi (they still exist!) hahah.......Anyhow, I remember the song now! It's a nice one for sure.

hilarious, when i was 19 and frequented windsor, american pie was the most common song to finish the night off with. |
FYI, when I used to go clubbing the last song was always something from Barry White :-) So people are eager to get to a motel/hotel.
