NY Times Article: 70 percent of men from 18 to 34 visit a pornographic site monthly
Here are excerpts from a NY Times Article:
http://www.nytimes.com/2004/03/29/te...l?pagewanted=2 ComScore also collects data on Internet pornography-viewing habits, although that was not part of the online publishers' report. According to the company, more than 70 percent of men from 18 to 34 visit a pornographic site in a typical month, and those men make up 25 percent of the visitors to such sites. They are 39 percent more likely than the rest of the Internet population to visit the sites, said Graham Mudd, an analyst for comScore. "It's a high number,'' Mr. Mudd said, "but it won't shock anyone who's worked in the industry." The prevalence of pornography online has helped to turn porn stars like Jenna Jameson and topics like masturbation into mainstream conversation among young adults. What seemed raw and bold in "Portnoy's Complaint" in the 1960's became fodder in recent years for sit-coms like "Friends" and hit movies like "There's Something About Mary." another interesting stat: That is understandable, experts say, given that nearly 75 percent of males 18 to 34 have Internet access, according to the latest figures from comScore Media Metrix, making them the most wired segment of the population. By comparison, 57 percent of men from 35 to 44 are online, comScore found in research for the Online Publishers Association, which is releasing the results today. |

wtf only 70%? all men need porn!... or.... do we? :eek7
|
i don't doubt those figures. and if 70% say they look at it, then probably 90% actually do look at it (many people will not admit to a polster that they enjoy beating their meat in front of a monitor).
so-called "porn" is mainstream and LOTS of ordinary people like it. you could not find a jury in america to convict mainstream smut for obscenity, most everyone has now seen it, and they are no longer shocked by it. if the bush administration thinks taking on the adult industry will buy them votes in the november election they will probably be surprised. |
much higher
|
I think another 20% are still in their porncloset. Good to hear 70% admit they love what we do~
|
70 % ?? Woah that's impressive... if you have one of the biggest site that mean there is a good chance ppl you cross in the street have seen it.

And seriously, If you base your vote as a citizen for your right to look at smut, you are a fucking dumbass ;) |

Re post. But I think the figure would be much higher :-)
|
That percentage seems a little low, only 70% of men 18-35 with net access have visited porn? Its more likely the remaining 30% just didnt feel like telling the truth.

I bet half of those 70% of men consider themselves adult webmasters too. :1orglaugh

Yeah my guess is its almost as high, if not higher for females who look at porn. :Graucho
